Basically, can u figure out the exact bpm of a song u hear on the radio?

You can approximate the bpm of a song just by listening to it. But, as far as I know, there is no way that you can get the precise number just by listening to it.

Edit:
Maybe this will work:
- Most Rap songs are recorded in the 4/4 tempo.
- Most Rap songs have 16 measures in each verse.
- Therefore, most Rap songs have 64 beats in each verse.
- Just measure how many seconds it takes the artist to spit one verse.
- Divide that number by 60 (to convert it into minutes).
- Divide 64 by the number that you got in the previous step to come up with the bpm of the song.

This might not give you the exact number, but it'll be close...

Somebody should double check that method cuz I aint exactly the best at algebra...

no you count how many beats you get in 60 seconds, then divide that number by 60, then you get your beats per minute

chop up a bar of it in your audio editor most of them give you the bpm

beatslicer, beatcreator, recycle, etc.

and math works too

I think you meant just count how many beats you get in 60 seconds (one minute).
That will give you the beats per minute.

There are sites that let u tap any button to a song and gives u the avergae bpm.

Basic math but for lazy ppl like myself ...or u can google bpm counter freeware.

Use a metronome and adjust it until it's perfectly sync'd with the song.

some of my software has a "feature" thgat is supposed to tell you the BPM of the song, but it didnt seem to work too well

I found a free program called "taptempo" where you just tap along on the spacebar, and the longer you tap in time, the better "fix" it gives you.

that way, the only calculating you have to do, is maybe if it says "70" itys really 140, as I am tapping on the "snare beats" (prolly cos I used to be a drummer for years, lol)

yeah, I've never found any real use for all the complex bpm counting software and stuff.

I can count, I don't need a computer to count by 1.

Try to count how many beats in 15 seconds while also counting to 15 (without using a timer).

If you can do that, I congruatulate you.

Good luck trying to count twice at the same time :D

Yeah, it's called counting while watching a clock with a second hand.

I'm really unsure why this is such a difficult topic. Beats. Per. Minute. Count the beats while a minute goes by. If you're in a rush, count the beats during a shorter time and multiply to get beats per minute. For example: beats in 10 seconds times 6. Beats in 15 seconds times 4. Beats in 12 seconds times 5. The possibilities are endless kids, just use your times tables!

Anyone making music should know what a beat is. If you don't, you can google to you find out. If you really don't, in most music, the snare drum is falling on the second and the fourth beat. Don't feel dumb if you don't know this, but with a little research you should be able to figure it out.

In Cubase, there's a tap tempo tool, you just tap along with the beats, it will tell you the bpm
