I got to say 9th Wonder is a disgrace to hip-hop. This guy's beats sound like they were weren't even mixed or mastered. His beats have made no progression in the last 5 years.

Usually when a producer starts he's going to use basic equipment like MPC and whatever software he can get his hand on, then after he makes a few songs, he will start incorporating live players and musicians, get new keyboards (Dr Dre, RZA, Kanye, Just Blaze etc) Also if you listen to these producers their mix and sounds get better after each album.

Now 9th Wonder sound is still the same as 5 years ago, no change, the mix still sounds terrible, the soul samples sound like they were sampled from mp3's, the drums sound like garbage. And finally why does this guy use a kid's program called Fruity Loops, I mean surely he has an extra 300 bucks somewhere for him to buy Cubase, Logic or Pro Tools. Doesn't he feel embarrassed to be using Fruity Loops at 32 years old. Even in a recent Little Brother interview, the 2 MCs were saying how 9th Wonder beats all the same and they kicked him out because his beats were wack.

Wow. FL is NOT a kid's toy. I've heard some people make amazing music with it, so if you're comfortable with using it and making money, why invest time into learning new equipment when that time could be spent creating music that could be making you money instead? I'm not a huge fan of 9th Wonder, but I really don't think his beats are garbage. The man has had a lot of success - a lot more than anyone on this board - so who are we to criticize what tools he chooses to use?

lol at these pictues, and yeh i dont anyoens gonna be telling 9th hes an idiot for using fruity loops for what hes done with it

i Used fl for a long time then i stepped it up and never looked back, 9th wonder is boring but not all the time i love the work he did on minstrel show and bishop lamont's latest tape, but yea i guess the FL thing did carry him along way and it's more fl then his music if he created those beats on cubase no one would give 2 ****s about a 9th wonder, and if ja-z would given just blaze the sample for the black album he would of made the song in to a symphony believe that!

I 'could' agree with the first thing that some joints are not well mixed, but the last thing with "kids toy program" was just ignorant.

By the way: you don't mix songs to the limit like banging Dr. Dre beats when you want them to sound soulful and the samples he takes are mixed already just in an another time era.

LMBFAO !

Soul Beats

Just because a beat is soulful does't mean it has to sound mixed on a 100 dollar computer. Honestly even his most recent beats sound like they were recorded on a karaoke machine. Look at beats made by Heatmakerz, Just Blaze, Pete Rock Premier. They are about a million times mixed better than 9th Wonder's abortion beats, and have that raw hip-hop sound.

Maybe he's just a slow learner (borderline retard) and hopefully in a a few decades time 9th Wonder will start to grasp the concept of EQs, compression, reverbs, studio monitors etc.

i'm not really a big fan of quality nowadays.. hip hop music is so bad, i'll take whatever hotness i can get... perfect example, would u rather listen to eminem's last million dollar mixed album or the karaoke low quality sounding classic MADVILLAINY?

Dude you buggin. I aint even a fan for solid reasons but I can't support this bull****. Where is your **** at. If I am gonna talk **** I am at least gonna have proof of my own talent to soididfy my opinion. All we need is one link. Just one link man, and maybe you can win this silly ass argument dog. Just one link. Please. I am beggin you. One link. One measly assed link.

Dissing 9th wonder and you haven't made it is kinda just pure hate at its worst. 9th's got a grammy and a few major records under his belt while you have a c.d being used as homeless person's belt buckle. C'mon man, the brother does what he knows. Just Blaze and Kanye do what they know. Dangermouse made most of the Gnarls Barkley on his p.c. and he's been known for using an older version of Sonar so who gives a damn what programs or hardware. If you've seen Mo Betta Blues, you make the sh_t people want to hear. People are buying 9th's music, so get you sh-t out there and sale.
