I have a chance to get either one. I think Id prefer to have the cd because I can load my samples from cd that I have on my pc. Before I buy anything tho Id like to know are there any big differences between the two? Do either of them have a sequencer? I plan to sequence on the pc anyway but Im curious. I am having trouble finding a lot of info on the cd3000 and never heard of it until today. Please help. Oh and of course sound. Which sounds dirtier? I am going for a sort of dirty but clean sound of sampling. Something a little dirtier than the mpc 2000xl. Thanks

First off, neither have a sequencer.

You wont be able to load CD's from your PC - cause you need AKAI format disks (you can buy these tho).

Soundwise, they have the same sample engine - so they will sound identical. You'll find it sounds similar to the MPC 2000xl sample engine.

If you are looking for something a bit grittier for your samples - try an older AKAI like an S950 or an S900.

In summary - get either (id say which ever is cheaper). You know you can always get a SCSI CD rom drive to add onto the S3000. I think with these two babies you also have the option of MESA connectivity.

thanks thats just what i was looking to know. I think something that sounds like a 2kxl with no sequencer but can still go for 130 is a steal. The sound I am looking for is somewhat gritty like The Neptunes pop tracks. Theyre gritty but not super gritty just enough life to the samples to make them kind of special. I was thinking of getting an eps 16 perhaps also but I like the cd3k kuz its cheap

130 is a good price. Go for it and have fun. The EPS is good fun too (i had one about 10 years ago) - its a great performance instrument (it can load sounds while you are playing)
