Yeah Buddy, Ol Romey Rome had a few... and came to FP to spew.

Saw a vid of DJ Pain 1 going to NY to play songs, that mf had some Hip Hop ish...

... but I doubt if he was raised on Hip Hop, which is probably the advantage... and the question is...

Will people that grew up on different genre's that get into Hip Hop... have more of a musical taste than a dude that listened to Hip Hop and only Hip Hop all of his life.

... I mean the guy that made Laffy Taffy, probably didn't listen to different genre's .... hope people understand what I'm TRYING TO SAY...

What do you think ?

No need to call names, get crunk on the web or any of that... but let's be honest... a lot of white dudes are crankin' out some good music in the Hip Hop genre.

It's time to talk about it. It's okay to post dumb thread or tell me to STFU too, I'm used to it. DJ Pain had some hot ish. I mean DJ Pain 1 is white and Bangs is black for real, what's going on?

This is NOT a We Are The World thread...

White Boys is making heat! JR Rotem, Storch, Jonsin... (but they ain't phuggin' with Timbo, Dre, and Toomp)

Em is the top rapper (notha thread), (well, Rakim will always be the top rapper, so I take that back)

Don't act all John McCain...

white people have been involved in hip hop production since day one as well as other races as far as rappers go,well thats a whole new topic

i see where your going, so i am gonna try to say this without going black or white.
while i do agree that having a healthy background in another genre will help a producer think outside the box (melodies come to mind before drums), i also feel that those who come with a different background have a difficulty "getting it" in the sense that it often sounds like hip hop emulation rather than hip hop. its like when people would try to do soul songs back in the day as covers.
sure you have all of ron isleys lyrics right, but you don't get it. ya know?
im not saying the dudes you named aren't cracking in anyway, im just saying that someone coming from a different background may run the risk of trying to emulate it rather than just getting it. like how people who dig through crates looking for "kanye sounds" don't understand the essence of sampling in hip hop.

i dont know exactlly what you want as far as my opinion goes but if you ask str8 ill shoot it to you str8

Hispanics (particularly Puerto Ricans), as well as other races besides blacks, have been down since the beginning. If you wanted to express yourself, the only thing stopping you was if you were fresh or not. There were always some people that didn't want it like that, but they weren't the true sons and daughters of the kingdom.

Okay, nobody is willing to acknowledge that Hip Hop has been around long enough for it to not be solely "black owned" anymore?

I'm not saying that MOST!!!! brothas don't still have Hip Hop embedded in there DNA ... but a lot of people have been listening to the same thing the most hood dude has been listening too for a looong time... I saw a nerdy dude at the gym the other day with a BONE THUGS N HARMONY T shirt on when most black people have written them off... I was like Yeah, mf, yeah I like it...

and this supports my statements... Wack Flocka Flames...

fp ftw.

Just heard his music a few minutes ago, it gets the Hip Hop stamp of approval.

I'm on the OFFICIAL BOARD OF HIP HOP ACCEPTANCE...

Card carrying member of the HHA... sort of like when 50 had to get approved as a P.I.M.P.

Pain 1 is approved from what I heard.

Alchemist... ? Baddest white dude to ever make a beat... (excuse my ignorance if there is some, I don't follow people's life stories... he looks white to me)

I'm not racist or anything either... (I can be in spurts though...)

I can't front, white dudes like Marco Polo and Scram Jones and them are keepin it real hip hop right now

usually white boys are more melody driven. they are better on keyboards. but usually white boys are weak on the drums. I think this goes back to the roots of ancestry. Africans are more rhythm and Europeans are more melody.

Obviously this is a broad statement, as not all black producers are great at drums or weak at melodies. or doesn't mean white producers are weak at drums or better at melodies. hell think about it the only white boy in the Roots did what?

but think about the history of each region. I don't think there were many drums in ancient europe or complex melody instruments in ancient africa. most ancient european instruments were strings and horn type instruments. and drums are a major part of every African culture. I do understand that pretty much all music came from the middle east and branch outward. but I'm not really talking about middle easterners. we're pretty much talking white/black

I for example am a white producer, but I suck at melody and I'm great at drums.
