I'm thinking of buying this mixer, yet I need to know a little more about it. Does anyone have it? And can someone tell me what it's like.

Everywhere I looked said that it has a photo-coupler fader, what does this mean? Is that the same as an optical fader? Or is it a regular graphite fader?

What else should I know about this mixer?

Thanks in advance.

yeah, i need some info on this too,

i'm aiming to buy the "skinny little bastard mixer" as someone put it...:D

I'm using it and am very happy with it. It's a mixer for turntabelism, but i use it for playin' parties, to mix.

Good points; - vestax sound - looks damn sexy - everything is in the right place.

Bad points; - no master to headphone - normal faders (= not the crossfader) started to crackle and you need to open the mixer to adjust the curves - two band eq. ( i don't need more, maybe you do.)

So, it kicks butt, sounds much better than ecler, more solid than the technics mixer, looks better than numark, if u can live with the bad points i mentioned, it's a great mixer. Oh yeah, the photo fader = the optical fader. It is more durable and does not crackle, to bad only the crossfader is a photo fader. More Q's? Post'em here...

The faders are not optical, they work in the standard way that most faders work, so they will end up bleeding if you cain it too much!

The 06 (commonly known as the mixtick) is a very nice mixer for turntablism as it's so thin allowing much quicker movement between the turntables, the downside is the lack of mic input and that you have to take the faceplate off to adjust the curve control for the volume faders.

If the cost is a little too much then Stanton have a copy called the sk1 which is virtually identical in design, i believe it doesn't have the curve control for volume faders (i'm not too sure tho, anyone else know?) and the sound quality is not as good as the vestax but it's a helluva lot cheaper.

If I were to get a vestax mixer (which i plan to eventually) i would get the 07 pro but then they're about £700 (the mixticks about £299.) because i personally don't like the width of the mixtick, i like a slightly larger mixer cos when i scratch i tend to knock the start/stop button on the left hand turntable with my knuckles when i use a mixtick because the crossfade is so close to the edge of the mixer.

I know 5 people in my area who own mixticks and the only complaint i've heard is the lack of mic input.

BBC Radio 1 use the PMC-05 in the studio, which is only £50 more than the 06, must be a good mixer. Why not take a look at the 05 looks like its got all the headphone volumes on it. Check out radio 1s web site on a sat nite and you can see it in action on the web cam.

Its Grrrrrrrrreeeeeat

I actually have been using the Vestax 06Pro for like 2 years now and even though its not a new optical fader, mine has been working in tip-top shape for almost 2 years now w/o the cracking. I'm heavy into turntablism and it proved to be reliable.

Unfortunately though theres no mic input but depending on what your DJing purpose is, it really won't matter. All adjustments to the Line Faders have to be done by unscrewing the top panel, but thats always good cus u dont have any screws around to cut your hands while mixing. All in all if u have the flow and u think its for u, it sgood as F**k. Get it.

does anyone know if a pmc05 has a master headphone output. because i have an 06 and that is the only feauture i wish i had. by the way i really love my 06 aside from that. check out asisphonics(if its up) for a nice modification for it.

nah, it doesn't have a master output, the cue select works in the same way as the 06.

I've never seen the point of being able to hear the master output through the headphones, if i wanna hear both i just stick the cue select in the middle.
