I have read the whole 7 pages spec list. And it sounds very good. There is just one thing that's not clear to me. You can set the jog dial in vinyl mode and into CDJ mode. In CDJ mode, the jog dial functions like a normal Pioneer CDJ player. Nothing new here. But when you set CDJ-1000 into vinyl mode, the top of the jog dial works just like vinyl deck. Pressing down stops the music and allows you to scratch or cue your track by rotating the jog dial in either direction. If Pioneer says "it works just like a vinyl deck", I am thinking the jog dial has to turn to simulate a platter and then it works like a vinyl deck. Correct?
So does anyone know if that the jog dial start turning in vinyl mode? That would be so cool, but there is nothing said about this on the site? I'm guessing this does not happen, will this be available on another soon to be released MKII model? Because I heard other people talk about such a turning motorized jog dial. Probably for now you need to press down on the jog dial to stop the music (brake effect), but how do you know how hard you have to push to get your desired break length. If the jog dial does not turn at a continuous speed, there is no resistance when pressing down. Maybe I see it all wrong so if anyone have a clear explanation.
:)

u are correct franzino.... the jog dial doesnt spin in vinyl mode.... a bit of a let down i would say considering the amount of "research" they put into something that would "emulate" turntables...

I for my part would be let down if it spun!!! It would show Pio was more about wizardry and gimmicky than serious performance. Just immagine more parts to wear and break, and the nonsense of something other than the cd spinning just to be wrecked mid-set by clumsy and drunk deejays!

Hey fellas, this is digital technology and so it is not tied to analog concepts ilke we would like, or are accustomed to. The whole idea is to get the best of both worlds, and speaking digital, yes emmulate is sometimes more than enough, but not everything has to be emulated. Come to think of it, that piece of thin, round black vinyl spinning and playing through a delicate diamond needle and counterbalanced arm is conceptually a nonsense in terms of performance. It works wonderfully well, sounds great and is unbeatable for djing, but just looking from outside we must admit it's a delicate balance and not exactly a foolproof or even failproof concept.

Back to the topic:
To me, it looks like a more "hands on" approach to the scratch delay of the CD 302. W/ the Tascam u can set this delay between 0.1 to 1.0 sec. as u all might know (u for sure Tricky:D), but if u have a touch sensitive jog dial to operate this, which seem to be case w/ the CDJ1000, then it would kinda feel more accurate, natural and probably sound more real. I think. Dunno, have to wait and see/touch/hear (buy?:D). But it sure looks promissing, visually it's stunning (even u got to agree on that, Trickster...;) ) and I'm betting my reputation, like I had some yeah:rolleyes:, that this baby is gonna fly... :D

as soon as it gets to the stores im gonna check it out and maybe buy it ! it looks like an awesome cdj ! ! !:D

he he :) actually alex i dont much like the look on the cdj 1000 i prefer the look on the cdj 100... i duno why but the cdj 1000 is just too big and i dont much like the overall look of it !

Oh Tricky, c'mon man... :D:D:D OK, I won't argue w/ you it's a matter of taste. I love the 302 too, it's nicelly stacked around my DJM in a case BUT size-wise, just remenber the 302 has a controller unit to add to the size, and I see the CDJ1000 as a improved CDJ700 - the slot in beats the s**t out of EVERY other deck in the market today.

Anywayz, IMH, HO Pio's got the whole stuff like it deserves to be: CD decks are no longer just toys, they are here to stay for good! It's a damn looker BUT I'm impressed w/ the specs more than w/ the looks.

It's too soon to discuss about it, I'm teased but I'll coold down a little until I place my dirty fingers on the rig. Still, I prize our friendship above all so I make clear I respect your opinions;)

P.S. We are so attached to paradygms, otherwise why can we accept vinyl decks so huge and not a crammed cd deck too? Think of it...

"Probably for now you need to press down on the jog dial to stop the music (brake effect), but how do you know how hard you have to push to get your desired break length. "

I read something on another site from a dj who had a chance to try the unit out that supposedly you are supposed to be able to adjust the pressure needed to get your desired break length.

Here is a link to where I read it at. It's under "Vinyl Plate Function"

Hope this helps you!:)

I've been hearing the hype on this thng..personally tho I think the $1300 price tag it carries makes the 1200's seem like a great and cheap deal....................ohh BTW that's $1300 for 1

I am not into scratching so I don't know if you can to that with the Tascam. I think not, because the Pioneer is better equipped for that. It is much more designed for the purpose of scratching then the Tascam.
I spin House & Trance, so holding, scratching the bass and backspinning is as far as my scratch interests reach. So I'm doing fine with the Tascam. So if you are a DJ spinning with CD's, IMO the Tascam will be great for everyone who spins Dance Music like Trance, Techno, Goa, etc. And you don't have to spend that much money. IMO the Pioneer CDJ-1000s is more for the guys who spin Funk, Hip-hop and want to do some serious CD scratching. And yes that video is great and it also shows that the CDJ-1000s have definitely chosen the scratching route. That's my personal conclusion.
