CUBASE - ANYBODY PLEASE ....

Anybody fmailiar with Cubase, please help me out;

All i want to do is enable it to record from the input of my SB Live Platinum, and can i figure it out (can i f@ck).

I've got Cubasis to work fine but Cubase isn't playing.

It also won't let me choose Soundforge as the default wave editor, why ?

If somebody could give me the basic set-up instructions i'd be forever grateful....

If u are on Win 98...this is what i did. Double clicked on the Volume/speaker icon. It brought up a selection panel of devices...
worked? Yay. Don't stop. Then choose File-Properties. You can then choose your mixer device (SB i would say). Then there is a radio button for playback or recording - click recording and click okay. It then readjusts the selection panel so you can choose which device gets to be the device used for recording.

Didn't work unfortunatley, i have a feeling i have a duffo version of Cubase. I've got somebody looking at it today actually who knows how to use it.

Hoepfully when i get home i'll have an answer, otherwise Cubase is going back to the shop and i'll buy a copy of Logic.
 
Yes Cubase can be a bit of a headf**k at times, to put it subtly. But once it gets going, and you get past the non-intuitive aspect of the user interface, it should work well. But- maybe you are 'meant' to work on a different system.
Hey what about reason? totally different i guess.

I reckon you should make the f***er work!!!!
really p1sses me off when cubase doesn't work. Even if it's someone else it's not working for.
Maybe i should try to be a little less empathic.

Often it is like some weird sh1t goin' on with the cubase mixer, u have to switch a little knobhat on in the top right of a track, just above the leds...or maybe the version u got actually just did not come out right.

I'm half way there, i re-installed it and it's (probably) working as it should now (it's recording anyway). It's just a case of figuring it out how to use it properly now.
I haven't had much chance to mess around with it over the past few days as i've just picked up a 'Nova' module which is taking up all of my time.

Very happy to hear...cool stuff...yeah, get the re-wire thing happening if u can with rebirth, it's reaaaaally rather good, as u can do cool lines in rebirth and cool multi effects and eq on individual sounds and it is at that point where a use of Rebirth can actually start to sound schmickpro:)
