i have a pretty big problem
when i record on cubase, its always slightly but barely off-beat. at first i thought maybe it was my audio cables that are lagging, but then when i record midi, i get the same results.

for example, i play a kick on the 3rd bar. but on cubase it shows that i played it just slightly before the 3rd bar. it gets frustrating when i want to loop bars but the audio/midi is offbeat.

i dont think it's a playing issue, because when i sequence on the motif or fantom keyboard using their click tracks, everything is fine.

help plz!

check their forums. i know some people no matter the program have to adjust their system time (**** i can't remember the effin term)

Depends what version of Cubase you're running. With the newer versions, go to Devices>Device Setup>Midi Port Setup. Select "Use system timestamp". If it's an older version, Program Files>Steinberg>Cubase xx>Midi Port Enabler folder. Move the file in that folder to a new folder named something else.

quantize......
It's actually a known problem. And if you play something live into a sequencer, sometimes you want to keep the human element.

ive contacted the cubase forums and they havn't been able to provide a working solution as of yet. thanks for all the replies

and id also like to clarify that both midi and audio are coming in earlier than the click

ftcmusiklabz gave you the answer right infront of you and you're still lost...

Might I suggest that where is lands is actually where you're playing it?

Playing to a click is a lot harder than playing to a groove. It takes huge amounts of practice.

There are some issues with MIDI timing, but if you are experiencing the same problems with audio, it would suggest that it's not about the system timing, as the Audio and MIDI timing are taken care of in different ways, even when run on the same device.

im still lost, in that ive tried those solutions and my input latency is still different from my output latency.
although ive found a temporary semi-solution which is auto quantizing the first note in each bar, that way it keeps my humanized drum patterns with the first note being quantized as so i can easily cut and loop.

thanks for all the replies tho foreal. appreciate it

But it has to work, I think you doing something wrong, you can't be the only person for whom it doesn't work. It worked for me and for many others, cuz it's a known bug.
What I did was, I googled and followed every instruction I could find, the 3rd instruction I found worked.

There are even instruction on the Steinberg website. I'm sorry for you, Cubase is a great program the only probem it has are its bugs.

Go To Devices, next Go To Device Setup, next Go To Windows Midi, you Will See A Lil Box At The Bottom Called System Time Stamp, enable That And The Quatizve Feature Will Work Correctly.
