ok, maybe one of my fp fam can help me.

i bought a used mp7 off ebay. the os is version 1.31.

i want to upgrade to version 2.0. i know i can download it from the emu website, but it's a big file and i only have dial up at home. i really didn't want to sit and wait for 4 hours while the file downloads, tying up my phone line the whole time.

i tried to download it at work from both the us and japanese sites, but the firewall won't let me download compressed files (.zip files) for some reason.

if someone knows a link to the uncompressed file, please post it.

if not, i guess i'll just have to be a little less impatient, bite the bullet, twiddle my thumbs, and wait for it to download over my phone lines at home.

thx

thanks. i'll make sure i check that out. i suppose i could solve my own problems if i just quit being such a cheapskate and get the cable modem at home.

is it really that large of a file?

you should be able to download some software from emu (might be on cd with your command station) which is a midi utilitiy for the command station.

When I upgraded my OS i simimply allowed that program to download it off the net and the transfer it to my XL-7.

one note though. you cannot use the usb port to transfer the OS. you need to use midi.

Get that OS 2.0 there are a ton of great new features in it.

this is the site you want to visit.

eloader is the software. it isnt that big of a file. 8Mb, shouldnt take more then 45 mins to download?

the os 2.0 489k that is really small. its near the bottom of the page. you dont need the command prep if you are running OS 1.31

thanks for the help. the eloader was the big file i wanted to download. since i bought it used it only came with the power cord and manual. no software.

i'll try this tonight and see what happens.

actually, i did it already. thanks to all for the helpful advice.
