Heres what I know...
I know theres a smaller screen, only 9 pads...

Does the xa have all the sounds of the x6?

Does it have all the functionality of the x6?

They don't have an xa at guitar center only x6-8

Before I get a gearlust bashing...i'm quite capable with what I have I'm just interested

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may05/articles/rolandfantomxa.htm

answered my own question...good site up there telling the differences

Still, there is nothing better than actual user reviews, so anyone who has outside info would help also

The Xa looks to have less memory, smaller number of sounds, smaller screen, less SRX (expansion sound slots). If you can afford it, get the X6. Guitar Center should be having a Memorial Day sale. You should be able to get either at whatever discount they give, on top of haggling them over the price.

I would get the X6 first before the Xa. However, both are good workstations. Also, you may want to look at the rack if you just want the presets.

X6, even the Fantom S is better than the Xa. The keys on the Xa feel like toy keys. Clearly the Xa was an attempt to cut the price of the X6 and make Xa available to more people. But the Xa doesn't compare.

thanks people,

i thought for sure some haters would mock me for asking

Nobody is going to mock you for asking sensible questions, BenL.

Some of that you could have discovered easily on your own, but you didn't ask anything completely moronic.

Now, just stop weighing in with an opinion on all kinds of stuff you don't know anything about, and everyone will treat you a lot better in general.

I did find some on my own...i posted a link....i thought itd be a good post. I do know something about fantoms, i don't know specific specs but ive worked with it and i know its a powerful keyboard workstation. Definitly up to par with FL

You aren't understanding me. My point was twofold:
1) You didn't do or say anything idiotic in this thread, and people treted you well.
2) When you do silly things like weigh in with an opinion on hardware vs. software ... you really have no experience or perspective. So, you're constantly spouting ignorant stuff that makes those of us who do this for a living roll our eyes and groan.

You're 17 years old ... nothing wrong with that. You have plenty of energy and fire in your belly, and I can tell from the way you post that you aren't just another lazy puke looking for a handout. You jsut have to take a step back and realize how littel you really know at this point in time, and give yourself time to learn and grow.

I know how it is ... you're probably smarter than the average guy in your circle of friends and desperate for some sense of personal significance. The prob is that you come off arrogant and ignorant, becasue you say dumb things like they are gospel truth, and as if you have any idea what you are talking about.

Stick to what you know, and you'll develop the kind of strong, quiet confidence that gets you places (and that chicks dig ... I'm not even kidding).

Could be ... but you really haven't demonstrated that knowledge much.
