I haven't been to this website for over a year... So, I might have missed some comments about this mixer...

I just bought a Xone:02 with Penny & Giles crossfader. I really think that it has the smoothest faders I have ever felt! I was looking around at Guitar Center one day when I ran across a Xone:62. I was blown away by how solid everything feels, and the sound quality was amazing. They hooked it up side-by-side to a DJM-600 (both on a pair of Mackie HR824's). Wow, I am not an audiophile... but that day I could hear the differences!! The Allen & Heath was amazing!! No hiss... No hum... Just straight up warm, clear... tiiiiight sounding!! But I was looking for a scratch mixer; so, I didn't think anything of it... until I found the Xone:02 online...

My question for those with Xone:02... How do you like it?? I don't hear much about this mixer... I'm wondering if I'm going crazy because I think it's the best scratch mixer out there... And I used a lot of them (I just sold my PMC-07 and Stanton on eBay). When I read different posts, people hardly even consider this mixer... Why is that???

I took my Xone:02 over to my friend's studio to compare it to his TTM-56. It feels as solid as a TTM-56. Sound quality is about the same (on my non-audiophile ears). But the faders on the Xone:02 feel better to me...

I went to look at the technical specifications before I decided to purchase... It hands down beats the TTM-56. For example. Main output distortion on the TTM-56 is 0.05% with 4 dB gain. Xone:02 is 0.04% at 10 dB gain!! That means that, to measure that distortion level on the Xone:02, they cranked it up 6 dB more than the people at Rane!! and still get less distortion!!! 6 dB is a lot!! That's 4-times the amplification higher than what Rane measured at (from the original sound).

I better stop... it's starting to sound like I'm taking sides... That's why I'm posting this, I guess... Am I taking sides or is this mixer really good and I should stop feeling guilty for liking it so much?? Before I got this mixer, the TTM-56 used to rule my battle mixers world...

(wow... I went back to read what I wrote... uhm... I'm in Chicago and my girlfriend is in Florida, okay?? That's why I spend so much time with my mixer!!! haa haa haa haa...)

I have tried out the Xone 02, and while I though it was a very nice mixer, it kind of has the same problem ecler does. It is not a widely recorgnized name to scratch DJs. I think that it competes very well in the Ecler/Rane ranks, but it is probably too expensive and not recognized enough to get a lot of free publicity yet. In my experience, people are only recently starting to really embrace Rane mixers, and ever fewer people would shell out for an Ecler. Most DJs I know have never even seen an Ecler... As people start getting more exposure to these mixers, I will guess that there will be more and more raves about them, but until then, enjoy what have. It is about as good of a mixer you can get.
By the way, I think the higher output on the 02 is becuase its mains are balanced XLR... It still has a very impressive distortion output though...

Thanks, Peasant Nikon for your reply...

Yeah, I thought that the Xone:02 would be expensive also... then I found two places online selling it for $599. The same price as the PMC-07Pro and $50 cheaper than the TTM-56. My friend did me a small favor and got the mixer and an extra P&G fader for $656 from a place in Wisconsin... no tax... but a little UPS shipping fee. That's how I ended up getting it. After selling my PMC-07, I only have to put up a little bit more money. That's a big factor for a budget-conscience dj like me...

Cheers!!

Cool. I have found the 02 for $550 and the 56 for $600, but the price you got with the P&G fader is great. I have spent way too much time trying to find lower mixer prices lately. I need to just get off of my *** and get one or two (or six...). Trying to curtail your DJ spending while looking for new mixers is not fun...

Haa haa haa... me too, Peasant Nikon!!

I spent too much time researching and talking to people asking them opinions about different gears!! When I decide to buy something, I'm pretty anal-retentive about it!! I research it to death!! It's kinda good sometimes, though... Sometimes, I get so turned off at the end of my research and decided that I don't need that particular piece of gear after all!!! haa haa haa

Oh, by the way, I have been reading a lot of your replies in different posts... You and I have a lot of similar ideas about dj-related stuff... eg, the digital-output issue with turntables... I don't believe in a do-it-all unit. Quality is scrificed to achieve convenience... not the idea I support...

i think its because everyone thinks of the pmc series mixers as the be all and end all of scratch mixers, and they dont realise that (imo) ecler and rane (havent tried the a&h, so i cant comment) have much nicer offerings
