I haven't been to this website for over a year... So, I might have missed some comments about this mixer...
I just bought a Xone:02 with Penny & Giles crossfader. I really think that it has the smoothest faders I have ever felt! I was looking around at Guitar Center one day when I ran across a Xone:62. I was blown away by how solid everything feels, and the sound quality was amazing. They hooked it up side-by-side to a DJM-600 (both on a pair of Mackie HR824's). Wow, I am not an audiophile... but that day I could hear the differences!! The Allen & Heath was amazing!! No hiss... No hum... Just straight up warm, clear... tiiiiight sounding!! But I was looking for a scratch mixer; so, I didn't think anything of it... until I found the Xone:02 online...
My question for those with Xone:02... How do you like it?? I don't hear much about this mixer... I'm wondering if I'm going crazy because I think it's the best scratch mixer out there... And I used a lot of them (I just sold my PMC-07 and Stanton on eBay). When I read different posts, people hardly even consider this mixer... Why is that???
I took my Xone:02 over to my friend's studio to compare it to his TTM-56. It feels as solid as a TTM-56. Sound quality is about the same (on my non-audiophile ears). But the faders on the Xone:02 feel better to me...
I went to look at the technical specifications before I decided to purchase... It hands down beats the TTM-56. For example. Main output distortion on the TTM-56 is 0.05% with 4 dB gain. Xone:02 is 0.04% at 10 dB gain!! That means that, to measure that distortion level on the Xone:02, they cranked it up 6 dB more than the people at Rane!! and still get less distortion!!! 6 dB is a lot!! That's 4-times the amplification higher than what Rane measured at (from the original sound).
I better stop... it's starting to sound like I'm taking sides... That's why I'm posting this, I guess... Am I taking sides or is this mixer really good and I should stop feeling guilty for liking it so much?? Before I got this mixer, the TTM-56 used to rule my battle mixers world...
(wow... I went back to read what I wrote... uhm... I'm in Chicago and my girlfriend is in Florida, okay?? That's why I spend so much time with my mixer!!! haa haa haa haa...)
