I have a question about the PT2000's..now everyone tells me to purchase the SL-1200's... (i have had those before..) but, I'm wondering what're the quality differences with the PT2000's. I'm a bedroom dj, who used to do some gigs at school.. but now it's been over a year, and I'd like to get a new mixer, over my executioner 10.. perhaps the Stanton Focus.. or Vestax. My main question is however, whether you think the PT2000's are a reliable buy..reason being.. I don't want to spend twice as much for 1 technics table, when i could buy two PT2000's if there's no real difference.. Thanks all.

I would also like to know seeing as I have spent some money on the PT2000 and Im still not sure if it was a good idea or not.

speaking of which..i wanted to ask anyone who knows about all these different turntables..what models of what companies: numark, gemini, Stanton, technics..etc. etc.. are good quality and good buys. Please.. i want this to be from experience as i will use your consider your judgement when considering my purchase.. thanx.

hi i wanna know too!
i'm selling my Pioneer CDJs and buying TTs but i don't have enough money for Technnics!
has any one played with the SoundLab DLP-32s ???
i don't think u can get them outside europe but they look like "DA BOMB", with better start-up time then Technics (1200 is 0.7 sec. with 1.5KG/CM torque and the DLP-32s is 0.5 sec. with 1.8KG/CM torque)
if ur looking for a cheap but killer Direct-Drive! TT go check this link http://www.intermusic.com/article.asp?ReviewId=1029&ArticleTable=Reviews&Channel=DJS&SubCat=27
it cost 272 pound + VAT (if u live outside of europe u don't need to pay VAT) for a PAIR!!! (+ stanton 500AL !!!) so far it's the best option i have seen! (+ it also got blue strobe indicator light!)

have any of u thought about 2nd hand stuff, if look carefully enough u might get some quality decks for a good price, but be aware that most technics will be stolen ones.
Gemini aren't extactly technic or vestax but they offer good starter quality decks that should last u, the stats on them say that their high torque so playing on them be too different from others, otherwise they look a good buy

I use PT-2100, and there are very good turntables.
They have great torque, good s tone arm, and some extras (pitch bend and reverse).

The motor system is excelent, i recommend these turntables, isn't perfects but gemini improved a lot with this model.

bye

does anyone know whether or not the tonearm on the numark Pro TT-1 can be changed to the metal that's on the TT2?.. i have yet to receive my tables..but if this plasticy feeling can be remedied quickly and cheaply..then i'd gladly pay the price..

What most ppl seem to miss is the fact that Technics is (not only, but mainly) for professional use, i.e. clubs and biiig gigs or for ppl who can afford them. For bedroom use? School and friend's gigs? IMO, go for Geminis, Numarks and (better, reaaly underrated tts), SoundLabs. They're not up to top level scratching or trickery but for general mixing u can't go wrong with them. But save no $ on the carts, stily and slips though, the diference in grooveability (stick to the groove, that is!), skipping (tha same..), sound, durability and vynil wear is noticeable even in short term use.

Regards to all,

PT2000's = Pukka

Alright Geezas,

I bought some PT2000's recently and they are a superb buy !
All this crap about the only decent decks being 1210s is rubbish, as i have had no problems with mine and both me & freinds (who own 1210s) can notice no enormous difference between them and Technics.

The only major difference seems to be that the casing on the Technics is better, but balancing the counterweight does something to rectify this.

If you can afford 1210s then you should buy Vestax anyway because they are better than Technics and although all the clubs use Technics the Vestax decks are better (especially for scratching). Gemini are quality and are wicked value-for-money.

1200s / 1210s should not be bought now anyway because the new 1200M3Ds are coming out in the next 6 monthes...

Hope this helps.

Isn't it out already? I even heard about MK4 being out in Japan... what do you think?

M3D are only for US and Japanese market...
And the difference is not that big (I even dare to say useless). I'd still go for the mkII (or the Vestax pdx-2000 if you don't like Technics -shame on u-)

The M3D is out yes sir, for some time now, and MK4 also. A friend and owner of a local shop sold a brand new pair of M3D´s for a local djwannabe (not before we put our hands on it though...hehehe), and all I can say is (IMO) THEY ROCK A**!!! Minor touches design-wise, the same look&feel only a bit faster and torquier, beautifull to booth - ok, tradition doesn´t exclude other makes and models but plays a big role in anyone opinion (at least in mine, I admit w/o shame or remorse), and in the tradition dept. the 1200/1210/M3D are still to be beaten. They are in no way the "only decent decks", that´s sure bull BUT there must be standards, and deck-wise the 1200 still play that role - that´s why ppl judge others agains them and vice-versa, isn´t it?

regards,

Alex TC

Just confirmed, the MK3D comes in black (MK3DK) and silver (MK3DS), and the only significant dif. between the MK4 (only in Japan) and MK2 is a 78 rpm button and some cosmetic details here and there. Technics must be quite happy w/ their sales as nothing´s changed for now... and for the foreseable future too!

Alex TC

Jedi,

It's a very solid mixer- but in all honesty, you might be able to score a better buy on the cheaper stantons on the market at the moment. Like an SK-5 or so. Don't stray away from a KL-10 if you see a good buy though, I loved every moment i had with mine.

Gemini products are often fairly underrated, but I find them to do their job quite well for the price that you pay. The PT-2000 series are very reliable and fairly decent substitutes for the SL-1200's. Speaking of which, the MK4 is already out in Japan, and I have never seen a black M3D though... a nice added feature is the quartz lock unavailable on the MKII table. I think when it comes down to Vestax v. Technics, there's no real winner, because it all depends on what kind of DJ you are. If you do a ton of scratching etc., then the Vestax tables are the best, but if you're a trance/house DJ like myself, Technics may seem more appealing. It's better to practice with something that's standard so you won't sh*t a brick when you find out that the club you're playing at has something totally different than what you might have (like 1200's). That's just my personal preference though. Both are good tables for what they are intended for.

I've heard the KL-10 Pro is a fairly good mixer, but don't be suckered in by the slick paint job on the KL-10 Executioner. A friend of mine had one of these and it was nothing but misery. Both are relatively the same as far as specs go, but spend the extra $10 or so and get the KL-10 Pro.

correct me if im wrong but i think the kl-10 pro has slightly higher quality components

Gemini news

Check Geminis wepage, folks.
They have released a new DJ CD player and a few other new products, I think. I saw an extract from a NAMM press release .....
