How Come The Proteus 2500 Isn't Anyone's 'Go-to' Piece?

I've been wanting one of these for almost a year since it pretty much has all the features I'd need from a sound module PLUS.

But, is it me or do you almost never hear any major producers using the Proteus as a 'go to' piece or even a serious piece in their arsenal?

I ask this because I'd like to get one but I don't wanna be dissapointed and have to re-ebay-it lol

comments?

If it's what fits YOUR needs then I would go for it. I have quite a few EMU products in my arsenal.

The reason why you may not hear alot of producers mentioning it now is because it's not the latest greatest thing out. But trust me, I still see it used quite often (Proteus 2000 more so, but same sound engine basically.)

I think it MAY fit my needs but the problem is I really would like to try it out before I purchased it :(

That's my issue.

Best implementation for Proteus 2500 is sequencing.
I use two command stations for sequencing my other synths, pretty similar to the 2500, and believe me, the command station rocks if you know how to use it. I have great synths like the Virus T1, V synth, JP 8080, JUNO 106 etc, and I don't regret from getting the EMUs, they are elemental in my live setup, I couldn't live without my EMU sequencer

I have the 2000 and love it to death. Without any expansion cards, just the original one it came with, I still find tons of new sounds daily. So if the 2500 is supposed to be the better and more modern model, I would say it's worth the risk! (I didn't even know there was a 2500)

I'm looking for another module that's as easy to use as the Proteus 2000 myself right now, asking people on here for recommebdations.

Look at the proteus 2500, and the command station...

They are exactly the same machine, only that the command station brings the touchpads.

Emu only changes names and colors, all their machines are almost exactly the same. XL7, PK7 MP7 all the same but in different color and different sound ROM.

I could say, a lot of redundance and lack of creativity. But I love my command station, I love it. A long lasting love, not just a short time affai, but a marriage....:)

That's what I'm saying, I'll most likely keep mine even if I sell both of my keyboards to help pay for a Fantom XR. (Micron and Microkorg)
