Just a small question: What do the .sfk files do that sound forge dumps in the same folder as the audio files? And how can I disable this (meaning sound forge will stop creating them and putting them in the folders).

Thanks a lot!

i think its the image of the wav. Im not sure if you can get rid of them would like to know how aswell, if its possible. Damn annoying del, open, del. open, delete!!! AGAIN!!

well, you cant get rid of them. SF needs them to work.... but you can set it so it automatically deletes em when you close the file.... and it *usually* does... but it does forget sometimes. i think the setting is in 'preferences'.

peace.

I haven't gotten it to work yet. I tried ticking 'delete all temporary files after shutdown' or something like that but it didn't work..

yea, thats it. it wont delete old ones that were there before you ticked the option. but yea, it also doesnt seem to work perfectly on the new ones sometimes either.....

just goto search and type *.sfk then delete them all.

I still haven't gotten rid of the files, even though I ticked the 'delete all temp. files' option. But someone here already mentioned that it doesn't really work very well..
Is that the end of that? I will have to delete all the files manually every time?

Those files are peak images that soundforge dumps when you open sound files. This is the fruit of the "building peaks" process. The bigger the sound file is, the longer it takes to load the file and the bigger the .skf is. Dont delete them if you plan to re-open the sound file later.

Good method to delete them all is to run a search in your harddrive [window key] + [f], then type "*.sfk" in the search field. then click search and delete all the sfk files. use [shift] + [del] to delete them permanently (eg. it doesnt go to recycling bin)

So far there's no way to disable them. Temporary files are different. They are for "undo" reasons and stuff.

Thanks for the info. So I'm better of not ticking the 'delete all temp files on close' cause it might give me trouble someday. Still, in some (or most) cases I rather have a clean folder without the sfk files, even if that means opening the files again will take half a second longer. But I'm not paying for soundforge so I can't very well complain..

Actually i just remembered there is a
"Save Meta file" Check box in the Save window. I havent tried it yet (im not home) might as well post this before i forget heh..
