I just got a bad email from Interscope's Legal Department... (Remix CD Sales)

From : Interscope Records <artistrep@interscope.com>
Sent : Monday, April 11, 2005 12:47 PM
To : <Donovan@The-Sauna.com>
Subject : Remix CD

I don't think you have each artists permission to sell that remix CD. This is a copyright violation and will be forwarded to our legal department unless you stop selling this immediately. The fine for such a violation could well be in the $100,000.00 range. Think about this before you do this again.

...I don't know if I should be pissed or happy. It means I gotta take it off the buy section of my site, but that also means that I've gained enough of a following for a major label to see those sales as a threat...

www.The-Sauna.com & click "Buy" to see what they saw...

HAHAHAHA wtf... this can't be real. Interscope is not unprofessional. They wouldn't have emailed you. They would have sent a letter from their LAWYER.

And seriously... A freshman in HS can write better than that. He said "stop selling THIS". What the hell is this?

i think your getting played my man. like dude said, interscope would have not sent you this email. hope you didnt stop selling your stuff homie.

Nah dude... I use hostbaby as the server for the-sauna.com. The email acct donovan@the-sauna.com is attached to my hostbaby account...

And is that trace saying that this is for real Bruce? I've heard of people spoofing emails but this is startin to freak me out.

He said he would forward it to the legal dept. , then he signed it "legal dept" lol

Also they would not say I don't think you have artists permission, because you would need labels permission.

Definently I mean E-mail is a faster way to get messages around but there is nothing like a good lawyer warning you to get you to stop doing something.

what they probably did was somehow send a form to your mail server that made it seem like it was sent by someone with an interscope.com email adress.

I have no idea how this would be done but it seems like it's the only explanation

It's not hard to spoof an e-mail address, and although this is most likely fake, I can only wish the worst for this clown.

I showed a good friend of mine and he did a TON of research on the IP's and is 99.99% sure that it's fake. Had a real long conversation about it and all these reasons why.. He didn't mention the english usage, but the bouncing of the IPs, where they came from, and all the other technical ish...

-Donovan

And don't you think they would've given you a nice greeting? Like a "Hello" or something. Your email just got right into it.

well just keeping doing your thing man,and only in time will you know if its fake or not.......

Isn't that quite illegal? I mean impersonating a legal rep from a record company could get you in some hot water.

I'd say send it to the real interscope, but then they might really get after YOUR ass.

ya lol. then they might look at you and wanna know why your sellin there ****. prolly just your freind playin a joke on you.

i think u should try to trace back the e-mail from the I.P address it came from....and i really think that if it was the real interscope they would talk about some law u are breaking like some code....and the e-mail will be much longer

a legal dept does not 'think'. they KNOW. you dont hear from a lawyer who 'thinks' something. a lawyer knows everything about what youre doing BEFORE you ever hear from them.

trust that. lawyers dont fukk around.
especially interscope lawyers....

peace.

Emails I get from interscope or most record labels I conversate with email does not include interscope.com , it always has umusic, plus they will always leave me their name, number, and 2way.
