Hello Fellow FP's

I have a 80 gig 7200 rpm SATA Western Digital Hard Drive from my computer. Does anyone know if I can install it into my MPC 1000, If so how do I do it? Do I need a kit?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Wow this is mad cool!! I didn`t know you could put hard drives in 1ks.

I can't actually find the information anywhere online but I suspect that the HDD kit only lets you mount a 2.5" laptop drive (not a 3.5" desktop drive). The reason I'm saying this is that, when looking at the pictures of the 'sled' it only has one drive-side connector and 2.5" IDE/EIDE/ATA drives only have one connector that does both data and power while 3.5" drives have separate data and power connectors.

No, you cannot mount your SATA 3.5" drive in an MPC1000 for two reasons:

a) The MPC only takes 2.5" drives, and

b) It is not compatible with SATA.

To mount an MPC1000-compatible drive, you will need the Akai HDM-10 mounting kit. It should come with your MPC if you bought the latest iteration; if not, you can buy it online or directly from Akai for about $30.

Blah blah blah, www.mpc-foums.com, blah blah blah.
