Whats good everyone!!

okay so im in the process of putting my home studio together and im now looking at monitors for it, i dont know much about what to go for!! but im looking at either the

KRK ROKIT 5

or

M AUDIO BX5 D2

as these are both in my price range, what do you guys think of these if you have used or do you have any recommendations??

thanks

I'd look at neither...

Take a look at the reviews for models from Yamaha, Alesis, JBL, Event, and Mackie. Then do a search here and on google for threads comparing the brands you just mentioned to the brands I just mentioned.

That should yield some great results and help direct you on the right buyer's path.

Also... I heavily recommend being used monitors... either from Guitar Center or reputable/honest ebay users. Or even craigslist. Your dollar can go further than you think.

Also... make "accuracy" your number one requirement.... and nothing else.

No matter if you're just producing.... accuracy is the name of the game and you'll be greatful for taking that advice later on when you realize how good your music sounds after you learn how to properly mix.

I hate to be the guy saying "save up another 100-150 bucks"...but you can get a pair of Mackie MR8s for $400. There is no better deal on the market in the budget monitor dept. IMO. That can be the last pair of monitors you ever buy...that means alot. BX5s, RP5s? You'll want to replace them in months, trust me.

I was never a fan of budget powered monitors until i saw MR8s going for that cheap. At that pricepoint, I can't think of a better deal. When they were $600-700 a pair, I would've recommended other stuff, but at $400, they are the best deal i can think of.
