Hi guys,

Lately, i have been having this problem where i have been finding it hard to make a melody that flows with the beat. Mine are either too slow from the beat or way out of sync/faster than the drum/beat. Has anyone got any tips as to how i can try and make my melodies flow with the drum beat?

Thanks

examples - it may be one of many different things - need to hear something to know which....

The thing is, a heartBEAT of a beat exists out of a drumBEAT. The rhythm of the drums give off a certain rhythm signature that directs the rhythm of the melody, try to adapt the rhythm of your melodies to the one of the drums (or the other way around, ofcourse) and you'll be fine. Practice makes perfect, good luck!

One of many methods you can follow the kick drum when im having trouble with a melody ill put a 1 bar stab or chord down untill inspiration strikes

Why don't you turn it around and use the melody to get started with the kickdrum and work from there?

How do i adapt the rhythm of my melody to the the rhythm of my kicks/drums? For example, my kicks/drums are going 1,2,1,2 and i cant' seem to be able to transpose that same rhythm for my melodies. Any tips guys? I need the melody to gel with the same rhythm of my kicks/drums.

If i try to count that same 1,2,1,2 rhythm to the melody that i am playing on my keyboard, it just end's up making my melody sound slow when it shouldn't be sounding slow and spaced out (spaced out as in the keys i am hitting will be like C (1 rhythm ) D(2 rhythm). Like i want my melody to be flowing and all as one, esp as i am making a deep house track.

Try moving along with your beat, like literal rocking back and forth in your chair or tapping your foot to the beat. Using the metronome on the software your using also helps you keep rhythm. While using these tips try playing around with your drums now. Hopefully it should come to you much easier
