Hi Guys!
This is my first post here.
I've just got a TTX1, and i'm quite happy with it.
BUT, when i rotate the plate (by hand..) the display shows the movement, and at certain points, all the segments in the display flashes! and the start/stop button doesn't work.
This is called "Protection mode" in the manual and should only appear if the plate is OFF/removed. (and it diffently isn't!).
As I mentioned, it's "only" a certain points of the plate, but it's not good if the plate stops at those points during a mix, then i can't use the Start/stop buttons.
It's also wobbling a bit (very little) but i've been told that this ins't serious. It's also like the plate will NOT stop at certain points. If I For exsample rotate it to the point where the "numark" loge on the Plate is alliged to the rest of the TT, it'll rotate (by it self) a little bit back..
Hoping somebody has a solution or something for this.
And sorry for the spelling!

Thanks in advance!

Janik

My advice to you is to take it back to the store and get a new one,
If you just got it you shouldn't have any problems taking it back.

I think you should contact the Danish distributor for Numark, details below:

KNUD DANIELSON
Bybjervej 8
Espergaerde DK 3060
Denmark
Tel: 4549130120
Fax: 4549130125

This should be covered by a guarantee, if you don't get a new turntable they should at least be able to fix the error, upgrade your turntable and send it back to you for free.

Don't take no for an answer;)

Well, I haven't thought of taking it back, bacause it works great. It's just this minnor thing. And BTW I brought it in Germany. But thanks alot for giving me the address :)
Maybe it's surposed to do like this? i mean maybe there are points the cersors can't read?
:)

No, I have a set it should only do that when the platter is off

mine doesn't do that. i would suggest contacting numark directly about it and seeing what they suggest....

This is strange.
I have send Numark a mail about this today.
Could it be the platers' magnet it's wrong with?
It alos seems that when u rotate the plate, there are small "bumps" like the magnet won't let i be in certain positions.
but thanks alot for all you help guys! please keep your suggestions coming :)

There's a whole bundle of technology in there, so if something breaks or is faulty it could be quite hard to determine exactly what's backfiring there. Definitely contact Numark or a qualified repair man.

As for the platter spinning back a little bit, that could just be the issue of your floor not being completely level:D

Janik, what did you do?

Sorry to say but i just start to have the same problem with one of my tt = TTX1!

Sometime i just touch litel beat the vinyl and it stops, some time i pres to hard and it still playing. 5 Times so far this problem hapenf to me. I'm calling them Monday Numark for sure, but till then...

How can we fix this, help me please...

NY, USA

Hi..
Well, i send the tt back to the shop, from where i brought it.
Then they send it back to Numark.
Numark has then fixed the problem. So i can't wait till' i'm getting it back :)
my advice: contact numark, there's 2-year warrenty on this tt.

yo guys,
i'm not totally sure if we're talking about the same thing but I searched and found this thread. I am having a problem. my numark ttx1 set is brand spanking new (like 1 month).

All of a sudden, 1 day ago, the ****ing thing starts showing all the squares in the read-out (what the manual calls protection mode) and concurrently in the middle of a track, it just stops spinning and it sounds like a really really drawn out break speed.

so basically, i've got a brand new ttx1 that plays for 45 seconds at a time, and then goes straight into protection mode. I have checked and rechecked the platter--it's level.

I did have the table near a 27" television (about 10 inches above the TV) and next to a stereo. Could that cause magnet interference at that distance? The only possibility i can come up with, based on the manual, is it's a magnet problem. I might post this as a new thread, too...

Just to make sure, before you take the TT back to the store where you bought it: move the table from the televison set and see if it still is malfunctioning.

You could also try replacing the standard RCAs that comes with the TT for quality interconnects which are better shielded.

I really don't think this have anything to do with the TV or stereo.
But there might be some sort of trick to reset the table from protected mode. Disconnect it and reconnecting it might do the trick. Check tha manual.

If not I would, unfortunately, say that
the table is not working properly and you should get it back to the store and ask them to fix it.

Unkle skunk don't panik
relax
It's nothing serios
I did have the same problem with one of my TT but sins I got it back from Numark it's working fine. You have to pay for the shiping tho. In other words for 20$ you will be back on track. The representativ from Numark the day i calld whas 100% sure that he can fix the problem and he did it fast for 3 days the same box whas back at my hand.

Call Numark, don't try nothing.

a tt can damage a tv, but a tv can´t damage a tt

yes, get it back to the dealer or numark

Did you make sure there were rubber fittings on the platters locking pins?

I just got my TTX's a couple days ago. After reading these posts I checked mine by spinning platter manually and no problems here. Hopefully they'll stay that way.

hahaha, might be an ODD request.. but any og u TTX owners wanna sell that little black clip that secures the tonearm ? Its the peice that goes up and down to lock the tonearm in place. :D i lost BOTH of mine from both turntables... :D

SEYE,
Jus do what evryone else does and find a demo model at the store to swipe it from ;)

Best thing to do, return the TTX and get a real turntable, Technics 1200 or 1210, problems solved. =)

You hear this quack???! Until you know both sides of the story...don't lend your criticisms.

I've been on both ends and both turntables have their good and bad moments. Chump.
