I just purchased a MIKO LXD GEN5. I must say that I have never been so completely satisfied in all my years of recording, and producing. My work flow has increased 10000% for client projects and my own works. There isn't anything on the market like this serious piece of equipment...its expensive but its undervalued based on its functionality. I have almost every keyboard, syn, software you name it in my studios...Plesae demo this product and experience the magic for yourself.

Welcome to the club but beware of the "haters", I own a Miko TSE.... just ordered a Neko XXL today (Fire Engine Red paint upgrade) and in the spring I'm buying another Miko for my mastering suite.

My assistant is even buying a Dbeat, he caught the fever!

People just don't understand the power of these things...I've paid for my TSE maybe 30 times over and I've only had it since the spring.

i have really looked into maybe purchasing a open labs product
what is their cheapest product right now
i caught on after seeing the mysto and pizzi vids on youtube
how good are they for making electro/house/trance
i have also been producing for about a year on FL do you think it would be too soon to buy one?

I been really debating on getting a Miko. I hear a lot of good and bad about it. I tried one yesterday and it sure is tempting to get it, but I'm such a hardware kinda dude. I think I need to sit with one for a day or two to really decide. Glad you enjoy yours good luck!!

I've decided on a dbeat rather than getting a new laptop. I hope it works out when I do. Mainly for live shows.

F.Y.I. they just built a 24 carat gold Neko for Polow da Don...

This is the Gen4 one they built a while back I think they gave that one away.

I want a Gen3 76 key someday.

I really think most people hate on these things is because

1) Afraid of change.
2) They are logic users.
3) Misconceptions about PC.

People think PC is supposed to run EVERYTHING, and then when they overhaul is and it shuts off, they wanna run to Mac.

Macs crash just as much as PC's do. There isn't a such thing as a operating system that doesn't crash.

PC also drags Mac when it comes to upgrading.

I scared of paying $3000 for a PC based anything but you just stumbled upon something I never thought about... If the Openlabs stuff had Mac guts would I have one by now? YES!!!!

No, Mac do not crash a much as PC's or should I say Unix is more stable then Windows...

I'm bout to pull the trigger on that one too... I just hope I don't chicken out and buy a Fantom G or Motif SX. All three of those got my gear lust going nuts...

The fantom and motif are breathtaking and good buys, but put it this way...you can sample both of them into the OL products and keep it moving!

The minus that some people talk about the OS (Win XP) on the OL products is the biggest benefit...Your work-flow increases tremendously because it IS all in one place.

Truth me, I hear what you're saying and I aint got no problem with XP. Hell XP is the best OS Microsoft ever put out but sample a Synth... Not my synth patches... When you got multiple Oscillators & envelopes the fire up at different times based on key pressure it get very tricky to mimic... But on the other side I could just buy a real synth plug-in for my DBeat and keep it move'n...

i really want open labs (maybe a dbeat) as well but that price tag is too much for me..

i also have a question for you owners, im pretty sure you can but i just want confirmation, i own quite a few synth plugins as well as reason 4 and am wondering that i can reinstall and use these in say a dbeat correct?

I've had my Miko for over six months, I've only had Reaper crash twice (because I added the wrong silly freeware plug) and Windows XP (SP2) has crashed on me once (I forgot what made it crash, again likley something silly I did)...now I am a full time media pro and my miko stays on 12-17 hours per days, seven days a week....do the math, that's an incredible "up time"

I am very very pro PC because there is so much more the world has to offer you (Plugs/ programs/ upgrades/ etc) I don't bash MAC guys, but that crash argument does not stand any more. I just tell clients and people I consult for go for the best value and reliability, good or bad that means the Bill Gates cult.

I met Mr Jobs (Apple) once at a geek conference real nice guy and an absolute Genius beyond comprehension. They make "nice" products. Apple is like a fraternity, and they create this image that you should feel proud to be part of it. I am a dollars and cents guy, and IF mac had the better value I would pledge.

But back on main topic.... right now, I am mixing track in Reaper (240 vst/vsti plugs @ 11% CPU), watching my stocks, on skype, checking emails, finishing a TV commercial in Avid (Full HD), realtime monitoring my web servers, writing a dance music track in Acid , writing this post, and doing a business proposal in Word...forgot just looked and even Wavelab is open with all 8 slots with Waves Plugs.....not one hiccup! Trust me when I say the way they programmed the OS in OL products make the machines a beast.

I refuse to take ANY money to endorse anything, but this is the only thing I will tell my close people to roll the dice on...Just have a written business plan and hot sh*t/tracks and you can't lose. But if you only do music for a "hobby", yes you better have deep pockets just to play around.

i think most of the "hate" actually originates from the fact that these things are mad overpriced.

IMHO I think that statement is false for a number of reasons.

First before I had the product I tried the buy laptop (or desktop) and ten additional pieces, and the total done always equaled or surpassed the OL product price. Doing productions on the road was like a NASA send-off...Wires, Midi controller, USB this and that...and I almost always had to make sure there was a Radio Shack near where I was going in case I forgot something. Then you had to make sure all that crap wanted to work nice together...I'm a computer expert and that was not easy for me so I can imagine the headaches a novice has. They even have a base model for people who wanted the bill kept to a minimum. I have a different attitude, I don't want a "C" series benz, give me the "S" class one.

The other is the OL product itself, I have bought well over a quarter mill in music/media gear in my life, including high-end SSL, Neve, UA, Focusrite...on and on. I know what first class stuff feels and acts like. OL build quality alone is dope. My little Miko has been to different countries and airports (some I know beat luggage to hell) and every time I press on it comes on. I built computers so OL can't pull the wool over my eyes, they really took care when they build, wire, and brace the machine...and the chassis is made out of some aircraft quality aluminum...All the drill holes are perfect....Paint perfect. I can't tell you how may synths I bought in past for whatever reason had to return to factory or exchange at music store, many times it was a build quality problem. Then add in software and OS programming...To me they sell too cheap...that is part of reason I am buying a few more.

This picture is what sold me finally on why to put money in these products (after the beatdown the damn thing booted via an external monitor and worked!):

Whoa...

ninogigi, your a hell-of-a spokesman...

But I NEVER take any paid endorsements or want one, I have to be able to speak from my heart, the truth. I even b*tched out open labs for having some pretty lame videos on Youtube...bad room mics, talking heads (big name producers) saying how great it is but not producing anything on camera...they have a great product but the videos are not really showing what I've experienced. Real producers (and future ones) want to see the good and bad of a product...OL product as you can tell I give a grade of "A" but they need to step up the marketing end. You don't even have to spend a lot of money to do what I'm saying...a little $25 A/V could fix half the problems...

Main reason I don't want to (compensate) endorse any music stuff.... see the same passion you see me with things I like, I will rip apart things I think are junk...like Protools, I have it but hate it...Reaper is the future! (I actually left Cubase/Nuendo for Reaper)

Now I know you're the truth... ProTools is junk. I'm not sure Reaper is my cup of tea but I know ProTools aint sh!t... DP on HD is the direction I'm leaning since we own HD already...

I'm a Musician first and a Recording Engineer second so based on your word alone, I'll take another long hard (no homo) look at the OL's product line...

Pro-Tools is a headache...I can use it but I avoid it at all costs...
