i love the 500.
i believe that the only way that you can effect one channel is if your mixer have a switch to select if the signal is wet/dry. i dont think your mixer has that (neither does mine).
there is a ton of other things that you can do anyway. my favs are....
echo - i select just the mids for vocals and use the depth to elongate key phrases.
i often set the depth to the max and grab a 4 beat loop, kill the record, play an accapella over it, decrease the depth so that just the acca is playing and start the nxt track.
i also like to find songs where there is a 4 beat sweeping bassline (like chris lum-up all nite or peace division-beatz n pieces 3). then ill select just the bass and go back and forth btwn just the bass and the full track....sounds awesome!
delay - pretty similar to the echo.
flanger - ill play with it durring breakdowns.
chop(or whatever its called) - it can be really cool but its hard to time it properly and to set the depth so that it sounds good.
the key to the echo/delay is that the bpms are set properly, sometimes i will tap the button(1/4, 1/2, 1/1) a bunch of times (on beat of course) to make sure its right.
sometimes ill use the wheel part on the right, but i usually only use the effect in the middle (i have no idea the names of these things! LOL). I like to use the hold button and set the depth low, itll cut out just the bass or just the highs&mids. it sounds cool to slowly eliminate the bass durring a vocal part and bring it back slowly.
i also use the crossover on the top often bc my mixer has a crappy eq and the one on the 500 is MUCH cleaner.
all in all, i am ALWAYS learning something new with this thing. I have heard dj vibe sets where he uses the ring effect and the one that changes the key up and down...it sounds dope! i think some of the efx500 sounds are a little played out, but if you really play with it a lot, there is a lot it can do!
