I've been having a problem rewiring FL studio 4.5 to cubase 2. I read some documentation on how to do it but Im kinda stuck. I've loaded the vsti in cubase with fruityloops open. Then I clicked the little fruit and it says "The engine couldn't be linked, probly beacuse another instance of it is already running, or because it hasnt been installed properly." I'm kinda stuck here if any of you have some ideas on what I'm doing wrong I would love to hear them. Till then I guess I stick to my tables ;]

Using FL as a vsti is different then using FL in rewire mode.

To use FL as a vsti, just load it in Cubase. do NOT open FL again. So do not open FL, open cubase first, add it as a vsti, and then just click on the "fruit" and FL will pop up.

Hey krime,

I don't use FL or Cubase but I do ReWire Reason to Nuendo, so assuming it's kinda similar, I might be able to help you out :)

I think you're doing a couple of things wrong. Firstly, don't run FL before opening Cubase. Cubase is a ReWire "host", it runs the show so it needs to be loaded first. FL is a ReWire "slave"; once Cubase has loaded, run FL, wait for it to load, then return to Cubase. You should have a Devices option on the menu bar; click on that and there should be an FL Studio option. Select that and you should be shown a dialog that lets you choose which audio channels you want to receive from FL.

What you're currently doing is using FL as a VSTi, treating it as an instrument. To be honest, I'm not familiar enough with FL to know what kind of difference it makes...but hopefully someone'll be along in a bit to fill in the blanks :)

thanks I'll try both of your sugestions when I get home from work. How is using fruityloops as a vst different than rewiring it? Any advantages to one over another? Basicaly what I want to do is lay out most of the drum and samples in fruity loops then toss it in cubase for scratches and better vst compatability.
