I know i've asked before about a new mixer but need to know something, are the faders (specifically the cfader) in the HAK 360 as good as on the Ranes (empath or TTM56).. I dont think I could afford the empath so ive got my choice down to the HAK or a TTM...what y'all think?

HAK 360

TTM 56

those were the two i was debating between when i was looking at mixers... i settled on the TTM56.

the faders are near indestructable and for a scratchin fiend like myself theyre a thing of beauty. the hak 360 has nice quality faders, but they arent as impervious to most anything like the rane's, and the rane has better sound quality. bottom line if you can afford the 56, go for it, you wont be disappointed.

From what iv read about them id agree with you, just one more thing, is the ttm still great for straight mixing? I want it mainly as a scratch mixer but want to maintain my techno roots too!

.......

I prefer the layout and feel of the Ecler, but if you want to hook up external effects units you should get the Rane.
Also worth bearing in mind that in the u.k. you'll get a Hak for around £200 less than a Rane - so that may factor
So, effects or no effects, that is the real decider i would say (and the £££).

yeah the rane is still top notch for straight mixing as well. awesome trims/kills, powerful headphone amp, fully contourable/reversable upfaders and x-fader, all magnetic. upfaders can be configured as pan faders too, fx wet/dry control, man the ttm is it!

Mate, if you can't decide between the two then do this - buy an Allen & Heath Xone:02

It's probably the better mixer out of the three in any case...

It has the FX loop, wicked mad faders (Penny and Giles) and that famous Allen & Heath build quality...

P&G faders are very nice tis true, but since he said hes gonna be doing a lot of scratching, i gotta stick with the magnetic faders on the ttm... not ever having to buy another fader and never having to worry about contacts wearing out is a huge load off my mind as a skratch fiend, and that was one of the main reasons i went with the rane. didnt want a focus fader either, theyre waaay too loose/flimsy feeling, the rane's faders are butter smooth. it does have stellar build quality though as well. truly, any of those 3 would be a good choice, but the rane to me just had all the features i was lookin for and more, and oku seems to want similar things.

.......

Also worth remembering that the Hak and Xone are about the same price - and that the P&G faders for the Xone must be bought as an UPGRADE. So that's another £60ish minimum.
The Xone is dope, but a little dated already perhaps.

the 360 has a magnetic crossfader too, maybe snot as good as the ttm, but it has one, and its a damn site cheaper.

im tossing up the 2 as well now that my scratching itch has started, the way im going to decide is just testing out the 2 to see what one i like better, i rkn its the only way to buy mixers, cos hey if you dont like the feel, whats the point in getting it?

Its a hard decision, i dont need effects at the miinute but dont really want to close the door on them either..I like the Allen & Heath too but would be worried about the faders..I like the way the 56 has mad contour controls(see pic)..I dont think the ecler is as versatile but could be wrong..and i dont think the ecler has magnetic faders on the channel faders, just the CF..Thanks for the help guys.

yeah ive used the contourable magnetic upfaders a lot on the rane. like if my boy wants to scratch on the left channel i let him use the x-fader and then reverse the right upfader and make it have the fast cut off, so its off at the top and just nudging it turns it on. this makes it into a crossfader that i can work with my left hand where when i move my hand left(or up) it cuts out so its more of a natural x-fader motion than if it cuts volume off at the bottom, which would make it more hamster style. the versatility of this mixer is incredible. that combined with its turntablistic features, great sound/trims and all those goodies make it hands down the pimpinest 2 channel mixer i found while on my quest for a new mixer recently.

yeah true, i def rkn the 56 is a better mixer, but like i said i wanna try both, i think its the only way.

just a thought....

can you change the cut in distance on the 56 xfader??? i know on the ecler you can change it from 0mm to 3mm or something.

could be a usefull depending on style...

I for one am just happy that options like this exist. Just two years ago, mixers like this were unimaginable, and now, it seems like the manufacturers have even more up their sleeves. I too would give the edge to the 56, mainly because I have had more experience with it, but either box will wreck house on ANYTHING else. Mixers like this make the vestax pros that many of us learned on look like a joke...

i have a 320 and it is damn sexy, and the 360 is the same apart from a different cfader and different vumeter options

i hear a lot of the time people saying "if you're in the uk, get ecler, if you're in the us, get rane"

i definately would rather have the 360 and £200 in my pocket than the rane

It is really the magnetic faders on all the faders that is makin it for me, rane has an impeccable (sp) rep for this sorta stuff, i dont mind paying the money as long as its gona be the ish, which everyone is telling me it is. Im hopin to start djin professionally v soon so really want a mixer thats gona sound good over a big system too..Im still kind of undecided but itl more than likley be the rane..Does the Cfader on the Ecler stand up as well as the cfader on the Rane?
