I'm lookin to get a small 25 key keyboard similar to the Novation X-Station 25. So I'm basically lookin for a midi keyboard that can be used as a midi interface (at least 1 midi in and 1 midi out, not counting the USB) between my computer and midi gear that also supplies some onboard synth sounds.

I want something cheap. I been trying to find an X-Station 25 (new or used) for around $200-$300 but I'm not finding them. So if anyone can offer similarly cheap alternatives, I'm all ears.

Good luck on finding a keyboard that has both the option for that price.

here are some but again price;
MicroKorg $399 but can find for cheaper
Novation XioSynth 25 $299

these are my recommendation

Yeah i was starting to get the feeling that the X Station is a one of a kind keyboard ah well.

I have the 49 key version but Im not much of a key player and I need the space on my desk so I wanted to get the 25 key version to save space.

I have one that i bought without realizing how good of a synth it is........i just wanted a keyboard/interface/mixer/pre, combo so i didn't have to deal with more usb fillers......I used it for just midi with reason, until i was using logic one day to mix, and played the sounds by accident.......now we hang out all of the time, and push keys......

yeah i really like the sound of x-stations. a lot of people don't for some reason!

I think it tends to be rather underrated because people don't really bother to even touch it and just think of it more so as an interface and midi controller keyboard.

I did the same thing. I bought it originally because I wanted an audio/midi interface and midi controller/keyboard. But I could sure use the space on my desk just for convenience.

well i don't know who is buying these things (i didn't) but i looked at it as a synth first, other crap (which i don't need or care about) second

novation has a keen eye for aesthetics as far as i'm concerned, and everything since the k-station has been sexy as hell. the nova and supernova can suck it because they were both abhorrent to my eyes and ears.

the VA engine of the k/x-stations has tickled my wang to a greater extent than a lot of the cheap VA stuff from competitors (MK/MS2000/micron/ion/lets not bring electribes into this). but its all subjective, and veteran members of this forum will (and have done so) disagree with nearly everything i just crapped out.

you sound a lit too fond of this piece of equipment.......it sounds great, but has yet to try and make sexual advances at me.....lol.......

You have to buy it a drink first.

by "drink" i'm sure he means a 12 oz steak done to a rare push with asparagus and a vintage merlot

or 4 supreme pizza hot pockets, 3 king cobras, and a hydrocodone for you and the lady

either way

sounds like a good time

dinner for girls usually consists of flowers, candles, ghb shakes, rufie coladas, and bragging about how much game it takes to have her under my influence....naw, i don't get flowers.......they die, they don't pass out.......
