looking to upgrade next week when i am in canaduh (despite the ridiculous prices) because i will have a chance to try the stuff and a much better selection than over here in Bangkok. I may be able to get to seattle though so that would be bonus.

I want a rotary mixer. non debatable what are my options, it seems they are limited, the rane is out because i dont want to buy two pieces (esp at rane prices).

Has anyone used the pio 3000 with rotary conversion, for that matter has anyone even got a picture of the bugger post conversion, I have searched high and low, no dice. It got hype and then seemed to disappear into oblivion. The pioneer board is full of evangelists who couldnt give an objective answer if their lives depended on it.

Vestax PMC 46Mk II is a beautiful mixer as well, but i dont like the 2 band eq limitation. i suppose i could live with that by adding eq killers but those arent that easy to find anymore.

Then there is the Vestax PCV 275, with conversion, but as i said in a previous, i dont like the lack of an independant record output as my mixer is a fair way away from my amp. I also record all my mixes, so this is an important. feature.

Vesta R1 also seems nice, but then you get intpo the 2 piece thing again, and i would prefer not to get to used to an eq that different. THe fader rotary leap wont be a problem.

help me lads and laddettes, i need ideas fast.

btw: The V6 is out of the question unless it does 0-100 in 2.6 seconds and has a retractable roof.

oi! that truly is a thing of beauty, and if it were more readily available i would love to own it. However one of the faders alone is almost 100 bucks US. I could afford the mixer but the conversion would kill me.

It is almost as pretty as the v6 --something new to covet!

The important part of the Rane is the main unit. You don't need the EQ unit. I just got three EQ Killers in three days for around $100 each, so if you can spend some time searching while you're here you might be in luck. They're really great units and I like the Rane a lot too. It's not cheap, but you'll never need another mixer.

Other choices:

Stanton's RM series has optional rotary faders. It's a decent mixer, and pretty affordable. Never actually seen the rotaries on the mixer, though.

The new Gemini CS-19R might be worth looking in to. It retails for $300 - $450.

Urei and Bozaks can be had for around $1,000+. Good luck. It will take some research to find one.

The Vestax PMC-25 feels really nice. I played with it the other day. There's an optional rotary fader, plus the built-in huge EQ knobs. I think they're about $400?

I love my PMC-25. I added on the rotary faders, and even though they were a little bit pricey but well worth the investment. Awesome EQ... That's a good choice if you're only going to be running two sources at a time.

Does the PCV-275 have optional rotary faders? I thought only the PMC-275 had those. I just looked at a picture and it didn't look like you could replace them. I could be wrong though...

Multiply that number by 3. The cheapest I've seen a Urei for recently is $2500.

OK, so that was for an unused one (still in the box and the shop had 5!). I can't believe no one bidded on the one that was sitting at $500! It looked like it was in very good condition...

I sent him an email asking if it was still available and got no response. Shady.

Okay, who the hell keeps something new in the box since the early 80s? A little weird. When they went on sale originally, they were like $1,500, right? Now they're $2,500. Not a very smart investment.

Take the VRM10... it has really long faders for precise mixing, and when you get some money order the rotaries. It's a mixer that you gonna keep for long time.

I wouldn't upgrade until I had the money to get what I really wanted. No sense in getting something now that you don't really want and will look to replace very soon... That said I'd go with a Rane.

Oh, and be sure to go to a store and actually try the pots out (see how they feel, etc.)

Japanese! The shop was in Japan and they refused to ship outside Japan. 5 untouched unused Ureis

djcorea, you just cost me alot of money, just picked up the vrm 10 and a flight case at platinum records in seattle.

The best thing is that i managed to sneak it across 2 borders without paying import duties.

It is a thing of beauty and a joy to behold. the sound is phenomenal, set it up at a friends studio next to a djm 600 and wept when i heard the difference.

the tube preamp really warms up the sound of cdjs and the effects are pretty sweet as well. the slope on th faders is also remarkable, very smooth and gradual, rather than the steep cut i was getiing used to. Though they didnt have the rotary pots in stock they will be arriving next week.

big bastrad though

it is so different form the numark which served me well.

I love my new toy.

here is a pic before i got it home

Holy sh!t dude, it looks amazing! Congratulations! I think you've got the most expensive mixer of all FP members now. You should write up a review when you have time.

BTW how long are those faders?

Wow, congratulations. Looks really cool. I'm eager to hear long term reviews of this thing. Next someone needs to buy the Vestax R-1 and the Steve Dash mixer and we will have rounded out our expensive mixer selection on FP.

Funny you should mention the Steve Dash mixer... The Phazon one right? It's $3000. He had the right idea and got too lazy to complete it or something. It's a complete Urei knockoff with 2 (WTF?) band eq's on each channel. You can't even cue more than one channel at a time.

Here you are:

If you ask me, it's pretty half assed considering the how new and expensive it is.

Oh yeah, also notice the lack of other obvious features like VU meters.

You can't do that on the Rane MP2016 either. The cue select is a dial, not a per-channel button (unfortunately).

Someone on Naughtybooth said Phazon is installing the mixer in NYC right now, at least in Arc and Shelter. (I don't know anything about these clubs or what is going on with their mixers, don't ask me. :))

Ah, the more options the better, that's what I say. I think his ~$2500 price tag is more justified than for something from Vestax.

Anyone else think Vestax should just give out a few dozen of those mixers to gain grassroots support and positive reviews?

Congrats sniff - those faders look loooong! :)

Gene - can you find smaller pics??!! :D

tlack - you forgot to include the Xone V6 in your line-up of expensive mixers...

PS, link to the Japanese Urei site... http://www.urbanmusic.com/urei1620.html

My prediction is that you will see plenty of Xone V6 reviews, because they'll sell reasonably well even considering the price.

If I'm wrong you can call me a dumbass in a year or so.
