I want to screw and chop songs! I have turntables. I'm not sure how to do it this way yet either. However, I would like to know what software program is best to screw and chop.
Please help.

I have absolutely no idea what your asking. What is 'screwing' a song? I mean what? Are you trying to make love to it or something? Im confused, what do the turntables have to do with it? Are you trying to chop vinyl, mp3's, CD's? Seriously dude be more specific.

He means he want to make screwed music. Southern Houston Hiphop.

Best method to Screw and Chop is turntables.
To Screw: Slow the pitch of the record
To Chop : The choppin' part is basically beat juggling, playing two copies of the same track at the exact same speed, then switching the fader between the two decks. It's not easy, takes practice to become fluid at it.

Break down:You have two exact tracks.....Got two decks 'A' and 'B'
Keep the mixer on side 'B' but start A then B....Now the song is playing with A a little ahead of B....If you did it right it is in rhythm.....Thinking ahead of the B is what is going to make the chop...When you know a beat is coming you slide the fader over to A then back to B IN BEAT.....There ya go, you chopped it....The art is all in rhythm....I been doing it for years, so it is easy....The faster the song the easier it is to chop.....When you get good you can screw and chop.....Until then chop.....then screw that down....
R.I.P dj Screw. hope i helped

well im from h town so i no wat u talkin bout. i use the old pcdj red. but hell u can do it with almost all dj programs. i no u can do it in traktor. but thats all i use

thanks for all the info!
one more ? though . . .
is it better to chop using digital turntables or vinyl?

If you have a mixer with effects, like the djm600 or the new TTX turntables you can adjust the pitch without slowing down the song. Most real chopped and screwed songs are the same length, just the pitch is slammed and then you just cut between the two records like a really simple juggling routine.

i have a djm-909 mixer. it has tons of effects! I haven't used all of them yet actually. So basically i keep the exact two copies and just change the pitch of one copy ... ? ? ?
Do you know which effect that would be called ?

Thanks for the help

A program is not the best way to screw music its the easiest way but not the best. The best way to screw music is with turntables. Softwares and programs are cheaper like 40 dollars but if your good at screwing songs on computer and making money by selling the cd's at school thats allright but later on if someone wants you to screw their cd then you gon have problems. Turntables Cost like 1,500 dollars for a whole set and it takes a longer time to be good at screwing like 2 years but when your good at it make mixes and someone will ask you to chop and screw their CD for some serious money.

All the best dj's like OG Ron C,Micheal Watts,Choppahollix,DJ Bull, and DJ Yellaboy use Turntables but they screw their stuff different. Micheal Watts chops and screw stuff simple like his stuff is for the radio. Choppahollix does a lot of mixing with the turn tables. OG Ron C my favorite he screws his stuff really slow and its not screw music youll hear on the radio his screwed stuff is street and gangsta and you gotta be sippin surp if you listening to something screwed be Ron C and he the does the best effect where he plays both tracks at the same time ant it makes a flangering noise effect. You gotta get the Devin the dude cd To Tha Extreme screwed and chopped by OG Ron C. DJ Yellaboy is also street hes simillar to micheal watts but yella boy screwes his music where you could nod your head to slowly.

DJ Screw his stuff is mostly street but also simple but when he does it its sounds like no one could do it like him not even use the turntables like him when you hear screwed stuff by DJ Screw no matter what song is screwed by him and you listening to it is like dam* this sh** is tight as He**.

I'm a software junkie so I know how to do it on software...

Its the easiest if you made the track and know the tempo but if you dont then find it out first...

I put the track on adobe audition and set the tempo to match the track...

then I set the time line to bars

so when I chop it... basically I just double 1/4 of a bar on a bass or a snare and cut out one of them that dont...

for example the bass kicks on the 1, 2 doesnt, snare on 3, 4 doesnt...

I might do a 1134 or a 1233 or somethin like that... just mess with it...

If I was scratchin it then I would just arm adobe audition for recording, bring up otsjuke, and mess with some scratches on a part of the song until I got it the way I want...

then I would match it up with the part of the song that was scratched... delete the original that is over it, then continue from there... that way everything is on point!

I rarely make C&S tracks cuz I'm busy with the beatz but once in a while I do one...

oh yeah I forgot to mention that I call it C&S cuz thats the way that I do it... chop it up first then screw it... its just easier for me that way...
