Hey guys, I have a beat I'm working on and I'm eqing my snare and I really want it to pop out when it hits and it already kind of has a boing sound to it(sort of) and I really want to capitalize it. The more I google this question the more different frequency numbers I get. My question is what is a good frequency to increase to get that boing sound to really pop out and be more powerful in the snare?

only answer to that is to profile the sound and identify which freq is actually boinging in your snare

Also ensure your snare is in tune or the "boing" won't blend regardless

just a guess but it seems like you're attempting to ring modulate it.

most real snare drums have a boing that is the sound of the shell kicking out; I know that you have used kong, so go and play with the acoustic snare drum simulator to understand what I mean

Oh he's talkin bout that.check the damp knob, the the bend knobs and experi with the beater level and tone

actually he is not, I'm just pointing out to you that this is the type of sound he is trying to exploit: shell resonance

The more I google this question the more different frequency numbers I get.

...and this should tell you that there simply isn't some specific number that'd work in all cases. Sweep that EQ & find out which freq works.

Cuts > Boosts
Whatever freq range you like about it probably doesn't lie in the low-mid range. And definitely doesn't lie below 100 hz
Cut out some of that crud which will allow you to boost the snare's overall level, thus emphasizing the parts you do like.
High pass filter the snare at 100 hz. Typically a pretty safe level
I often also like the result of narrowly cutting between 300-500 hz (find it by wherever sounds the most ear-piercing when u sweep w a huge, narrow boost)
