hey all
i just purchased a studio projects VTB-1 preamp yesterday. i took it home and tried to get it up and running but i am getting no sound whatsoever.
i have one XLR going from my microphone into the INPUT of the VTB1. then i have another XLR going from the OUTPUT of the VTB1 into the INPUT of my mixer (M-audio projectmix I/O). i am getting a meter reading on the VTB1 but no meter reading in pro tools and no sound at all. with pro tools running or without. i have checked both mic cables without the VTB1 and both seem to be working fine. the LINE IN button (for when you want to use the VTB1 with instruments) is not pushed in.
can anyone give me a hand with this? ive followed the pretty simple set up the manual suggests. do i have a faulty unit?
any suggestions or advice would be great. im not too experienced with pre amps so i may be doing something very small wrong.

well after toying with it for a bit i figured out the problem. the output connection on it is messed up. doesnt make a proper connection. i have to push down on the mic cable for it to connect.
this one is going back.
