I'm going to upgrade to Technics but I don't know what model to choose. I can afford both of them.
My indecission is caused by a post that I read here saying the M3D's have less torque and weaker motor than the MKII's.
What do you think about it.

Have you used the M3D's?
I know you have a SL 1210 MKII. Is really that annoying the lock zone on the 0% pitch?

never played on one, but the startup time was the same as MK2....
it is the exact same motor...
the dead zone at 0% is annoying, but not something u can't easily overcome (just move the slider on the other TT a bit, no one will notice)
but for only 10$ more, i think it's worth it... we are not talking about huge change, hence there is no huge change in the price

i have owned both mk2s and m3ds. while i don't know about specific circuitry, there is no (noticable) difference in torque, platter weight, etc. i would say the extra cost (if any at all, i gots my m3ds for $399) is well worth it just to have the recessed power dial, which i would always seem to brush while scratching and accidentally turn to table off.

i also tried both and while there's no difference in torque....the m3d pitch shift seemed to feel a little less responsive than the mk2, not as quick.....(could've been my imagination?).....then there's the price difference....and i mean in comparison with the 1210.....why is it going for 399 while the 1200 is at 449?, and the cheapest i have seen the m3d for is 459......so what will it be? save $60 for a pitch reset and a recessed power switch or make it spending money for records? i now find myself in the same dilemma as hrail.....hmmm ....what to do what to do.....

i'm not sure what it is about the pitch but there is something different i know this for sure from experience. i have mk2's and everyone else has m3d's and i always seem to have a bit of trouble or it takes me longer to match beats when using m3d's.
i do like the fact that it doesn't lock at 0 that was always a ***** to deal with but the pitch doesn't convince me to get m3d's i'd rather deal with the 0 than have a harder time with the pitch!

It's not your imagination. That's what the reviewer probably meant when he said there was less torque - the quartz system in the m3d is slightly different to accomodate that zero lock button. That means your startup speed is a little less and your responsiveness on the pitch fader is a little less.

Probably not enough to notice unless you're a really experienced mix dj.

it all wack!

I've used both and there no diffirence, it's the same table!!!!

minus the few small goodies added to the m3d!
