Does anyone know what kind of synths Dr. Dre uses?
Usaly i am not verry interested in the equip of other producers, a sample is a sample doesn;t mathher in wich sampler you load, but when in comes to synths it is hard to find the right sounds.
Dr. Dre always used that thin g-funk synth. In his older tracks with snoop it is always there. Know wich one i mean?

Darkchild uses that in your face synths in what about is (brandy). I got a song in my head with that sound, but i can't make it with my own synths.
Timbaland and rockwilder also got great synthsounds.

Any sugestions?

just keep playing with knobs and presets til it sounds how you want it to...;)

Dr. Dre doesn't use ANY SYNTHS because he doesn't know how to use them....but his keyboardists do.

That G Funk sound comes from a Minimoog. Trust me...you'll never find one for less than 10 g's.!

AND THAT FAT B#$TARD RODNEY JERKINS STOLE ROCKWILDER'S SOUND!!!!!!!

But all of his crap originated from the mighty Triton. I just wish someone would pop his FAT A$S!!!

Yes, and believe me your not seeing the worst. When sleeptyght was whennightfalls... he was off the wall.

He's got dozens of warnings but still wanted to offend FP people... so he definitely deserved to be banned. BLAM !

I've also been wondering the same thing for a while now. Those sounds are so clean, and I cant get any of my synths to even come close (well sort of...) Somebodys gotta know how to get a similar sound.

if im not mistaken dre samples from george clinton... i think thats where he got alot of his synths lines from

btw recordings of a moog are better than no moog at all.

i have used lots of soft synths and ive found that the thing that can most closely resemble that noise is dreamstation dxi. i once wondered the same question and this is how i came accross this synth. check it out.

I was reading a big interview in some recording mag with Rodney Jerkins like a month ago... He basically has every current big synth in his studio(Looked like every EMU Rackmount, Roland V Synth, Fantom, Motif/ES, Tritons, Z1, etc). I am sure most of the big producers have access to all the synths too.

Thanks everyone,

It is already a long time ago sinds i started this post. I discovered a lot of things during that time. I don't have a any new synts, but i can get almost any synthsound i wannna have.
There are many ways how you can create a sound. You can a piece of the sound with the adjusment of the synth, then open some effects, like a phaser, flanger, filter, compressor, and use them creative. Than you can work also with the automationtool of you sequencer, to add details in the dynamics and make sweeps with the cut off for exapmle. Another thing to get your sound is layering of diffrent synts with the same melody, rhytm.
The trick of the Dr. Dre synts i was talking about is: portamento, in some synts u can use the glyde also for the portamento effect.
I am not working with any hardwaresynts, just with my synts in logic and some great synts of native instruments.
Thanks for replying, and i hope this post can be useful for someone

have to say Sleepytight has a good point !
He may be gone but wasnt far from the truth

I read that dre used mostley a nord lead and an ms2000 for 2001

That is why syths gives you the capability to program and creat your own sounds... you dont have to search for the right sound. YOu can create the right sound.

that's true, but it is diffrent when you start with creating a sound first or when you got already a sound in mind.
