"THOSE WHO KNOW, DON'T TELL - AND THOSE WHO TELL, DON'T KNOW"

so why do you come to FP and FREELY share valuable information that IS and WILL help CURRENT and FUTURE COMPETITORS when you COULD / SHOULD be SELLING the valuable information instead???

"IF IT DON'T MAKE DOLLARS, IT DON'T MAKE SENSE"...right?

Beacuse its all about pushing yourself and your limits. Informations that are posted in this forums can help You, but they wont make you succesfull. You have to use these tips in your life to be able to get on the right track. But also in this game you need more or less luck. There are many things that combined together can make someone succesfull in the music industry. The information isnt everything imho.

very true...very, very true.

The information isnt everything

wait, really?

what about "KNOWLEDGE is POWER"?

when you SHARE knowledge, you EMPOWER others, right?

shouldn't POWER (knowledge) come at a price?

Lol bruh, you do realize you're using quotes that only justify your ideology to make this thread right?

so for every

"if it don't make dollars it don't make cents" and "game is to be sold, not told"

there's a:

"give and you shall receive" and a "in the same degree you are helpful, you will be happy" to match them.

While the minority some people are just generally helpful and helping somebody out means more to them then the cash.

I'm a beat maker not a magician... if i tell someone how to do something, that doesn't make them any more creative.. I can tell someone how to approach artists but if they're not confident they still won't come off the right way etc.. I like helping others because people that didn't even know me helped me when I was getting started so I feel the right thing to do is give that knowledge back..

i help because it costs me nothing and because i dont care. I'm not in the business of selling advice or selling help. A lot of people wish they had cats who helped them on the come up.

i dont feel like im giving any information that will turn you into a millionaire overnight.

and i know James or somebody else is gonna come in here and call me arrogant, but i dont view anybody on FP my competition. I dont view anybody as my competition, the only person who stops me from getting anything that i want out of a situation is myself. If i put my all into something, nothing else will matter.

If T-Minus and Lex Luger get chosen over me on an album, that has nothing to do with me, and more to do with them, the fact i got reached out to for the album in the first place sets me in another league.

Competition would mean one wins and another loses, so i dont consider anybody here competition, just because i help you win doesnt mean im going to lose in the process

I'm just a nice guy....

Not that I'm frequently dropping useful knowledge or anything tho lol, I'm usually asking others to drop their POV/opinions when I make threads

I'm not selling advice. I'm selling expertise...experience...insight...foresight...hindsight.

It's one thing to tell someone what to do. It's another thing to guide them through the process, and make sure that they do it.

I've worked for consulting companies for about the past 12 years...I have a pretty good idea of how they do things, and why they are successful (and why they fail).

Every facet of the music industry is in SHAMBLES right now....from majors on down to the guy sitting him his bedroom reading this. I feel as if I have the know how to help steer someone's ship in the right direction, and into the open waters of success, and equally as important, around the sand bars that so many others run aground on.

So I'm packaging up my services for anyone that feels the need to make that type of investment in their career.

Those that do, will reap the benefit. Those that don't, will find another way.

Problem is these days people have everything at their fingertips (free)

information
applications
sounds
etc

they have exactly what they need to earn a good income but since it's free they don't appreciate it..

People don't use the knowledge given to them... they just sit on it

Here is the problem. You need a good ship. A lot of ships break down mid stream, run out of gas, break a rudder, or simply refuse to start. Only a tugboat can bring them to shore lol.

Which is why, the way my business is structured, is that I choose the ship I steer. :)

Not every ship with some money is sea worthy.

And now everybody knows the "secret" why not everybody is as successful as Jay Z, Michael Jackson, Jordan, Quincy, B. Cox etc.

All it takes is a little 2 foot wave and it curtains...

Because it's not quite that simple.

Not everybody can be Jay-Z, Jordan or Quincy. But everyone can maximize their potential. That's what it's about...taking the talent, and maximizing the potential.

And remember, waves can destroy, or waves can propel...all depends on which side of the wave you're on. :)

I appreciate all the advice and insights offered here. Plus just because you have a Steinway piano doesn't mean you can play.

Lol @ the boat analogy.

Make sure your ship is sea worthy before you take on the ocean. True some storms can overpower any ship, but some ships have no business in the ocean.

You're absolutely right. Thus "sea worthy".

Basically

you can give information away for free
businesses do this all the time
why
1.potential customers
a.they do target the free products/information

now from an forum point of view that's what the getting started section is for
and the stickies in each section
alot of the information is around that free to find just have to research and use the right keywords
some ppl are good at finding information and applying it to their situation some are not
some are creative putting their own twist to make information profitable, others they are not

indie labels and artists have tons of tools to help them achieve their goals.
will they search,find,and apply?
is the question
