There's a thread about how beats are complicated so instead of hijacking the thread I figured I'd start this one.

What's the most complicated beat you've heard? Holler back.

Probbly something by Timbo. When it comes to rhythms that guy can't be touched (get ur freak on, lick shots, pony, jigga/what jigga who, big pimpin' the list goes on). Yup, probbly one of Timbo's.

From what I can remember RJD2's beats on his first two albums were quite complex. Haven't listen to them for a few years though so maybe I'm wrong.

an old track by busta rhymes called "You Ain't F****n With Me". just a weird arrangement to me

Other then that, I go with something of Timbalands

I have to go with kanye west "HISTORY" the track he did for Jay for the blueprint 3. if you havent heard it check it out, the beat is crazy layered.

devonte has some of the most complex music ever. dude used 50 or 60 instruments once.

J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League- Maybach Music 2.

Listen to it on headphones.
Use of instruments, switch-ups.

i think its cry me a river by justin or devil wouldn´t recognize you by madonna...both produced by Timbo

checkout the interview with jimmy douglas (timbos mixer) at soundonsound, that sexyback joint was crazy.60 tracks in protools/12 backup vocals for justin!!!...who on FP can hear 12 different backup vocals?!?!?!

Complex does not equal good. The best beats are quite simple actually.

my first reaction when i saw this thread was JUSTICE League's - Maybach music 2. the sax on it is crazy

their are probably more but i can't name them from the top of my dome right now...

Pretty much most the beats on Deeper Than Rap (JUSTICE LEAGUE) are super-complex IMO. The switch-ups/variations within the beat are subtle, but they are there.

Maestro's got some pretty "complex" ish, the one that comes to mind is "3 Peat."

Personally, I like complex beats more than simple beats.
