Pretty much what it says in the title. Fl studio has a soft clipper.

What is for? How to Use?

I understand clipping basics roughly. In Fl studio if sound exceeds a 0db threshold (some type of metering etc.) and then clips it distorts the sound.

As far as I understood it.. soft clipping is a kind of limiting algorithm, where you clip the peaks but in a different manner than conventional clipping (where a lot of distortion is introduced in the process). Instead of the harsh squared out peaks you normally get when you clip the signal, you get a smoother rounded off peak with much less noticeable distortion.
