Something that works on both platforms and has a lot of good sounding, realistic samples that cover a lot of areas. one vst, not a combo

Beet Maker Vst!
I heard it also works on a Schneider CPC 464

hypersonic 2 does the job for me. also i have sonik synth and use that for quite a bit of sounds also.

you can check the beats on my page majority of them have sounds from both modules.

Reason is the most like a Phantom or Motif. It's a software workstation and those are Keystations.

Wow is that Sonik Synth guy on the KVR forum for real?? Softsynths kill my mojo everytime, I don't have anything that has the impact of my V-synth & Triton. Hypersonic sounds like a Casio, and Sonik Synth wasn't that much better.
I'm sorry but I just don't agree with this, pardon my ignorance.

Hypersonic 1 was kinda lame except when you layer certain sounds. Hypersonic 2 on the other hand. Incredible. Sonik Synth is a great plug-in though. Still nothing touches the Vanguard in my opinion. Also check Albino 3, Blue, Rapture, Zebra, Ultra Focus, or something like that. I also have Motif and Fantom refills for Reason. The good ones, not the ones that don't pitch up and down right.

i can agree that outta the box SOME soft synths dont match up to hardware... but that's because they soak the very small samples on these ROMS with effects to make them sound much better than they really are, but it's all about how you tweak the sounds... with softs you have that option and you can always run it through other vst's ....

My go to workstation sound VSTi's:

Hypersonic 2
Sonik Synth 2
Cakewalk Dimension Pro

These three deliver time and time again.

i have the Motif ES at home and I use the Fantom X/triton extreme at the studio, i'd say good alternatives to them are the following:

if you use FL, cubase, or some other VST plugin host id go with Hypersonic 2 and pair it with either Kontakt 2 or Emulator X. Hypersonic 2 is a rompler so you cant add anymore sounds to it but it just sounds great with little effort period. the FX on it and the layout of it, it sounds the closest to my ears of what the "Big 3" offers. Id get Kontakt 2 or Emulator X to layer with it because you can expand it by dumping all sorts of multisampled sounds into it since they are sampler VSTs and they also come with a good selection of stock stuff. after that id get dedicated synth VSTs such as Vanguard, Albino, or FM7.

the other alternative I like is Reason 3.0, that can sound very good if you put in work.

We are talking about bread and butter "rompler" software programs...There is a huge list (of course, you will need a host/sequencer to use them effectively). The good news is you have a ton of options:

Dimension Pro
Kontakt
Sampletank
Sonic Synth
Colossus
Hypersonic
Ravity/Purity
Emulator/Proteus X
Many Station
Giga Studio
HALion
...and the list goes on...plus other "romplers" geared towards synths or other specific instruments...

I personally use Dimension Pro, Proteus X, and a ton of various Roland, and Akai patches translated into the SFZ format Dimension Pro uses...I use the Proteus X sounds in Dimension Pro as well.

its illegal to sample MOTIF Sound and make them aivable on the internet

True. There's no such thing as a "Motif plugin" - the plugin that comes with the samples is Emagic's EXSP24 plugin. That wasn't free then so I'm sure it's not free now (even though it's not available anymore).
