Im just wondering as a rapper, how not making your own beats may affect you. Like is it looked down upon or what. How many rappers in the industry are just rappers and dont make beats.
Its not frowned upon..
I think people are just diversifying, covering as many lanes as possible, rapper/singer/producer/actor, one head many hats, thats looking like the way to survive.
Real talk!
As A rapper myself, I started making beats to become a better all around musician.
A lot rappers don't make beats and its defiantly not frowned upon at all. A lot of times when rappers do make beats its because A they can't find beats that fit them or the beats they are receiving from producers are not up to par to what they want to rap to. B they don't want to spend money on beats and would rather just make their own...
The majority of rappers out right now don't make their own beats so I don't think it's looked down upon. With making beats being so accessible now a days I think it will become more common in the future.
