I think this is hip hop's most overrated album. Sure there are a few good songs such as Takeover, Izzo, Heart of the City, Never Change, Renegade

but there are also some real overrated songs there too like Girls, Girls, Girls, Jigga that Nigga, and Hola Hovito... With that many bad songs, I don't know how I could make this album a classic. Your views?

Lyrically the album is def overrated. The production is what makes people rave about it... me anyway. But ya, the lyrics were pretty ass compared to other Jay albums.

The blueprint is my favorite hip hop album period

Jay is overrated himself. Its a case of saying you are the best so many times that people believe you.

Listen to Reasonable Doubt... over and over again, then reevaluate. Regrets shlts on ANY song on The Blueprint alone... not including Dead Presidents and Feelin It. If it wasn't for the beats, no one would care about The Blueprint... well, excluding the Jay stans anyway.

No its not overrated, simply because YOU don't like some of the songs. Music is of taste. Remember YOU are not the majority or the minority. You are one person. So because you don't particularly like something doesn't mean 100 million other people don't.

What does tha tmean? It means nothing is overrated simply because YOU don't like it. I think a better question would have been, "Who feels the blueprint isn't that good" or whatever.

Personally I liked blueprint 2 better.

The more money u make the less hungry u get, he dosent have to worry about seelin alot to make a name for himself or to pay his light bill. Blueprint 1 and 2 were classics imo also The Black album. Old heads are always right though its no arguing wit them lol. (yes u oldhead readin this)

love reasonable doubt but highly disagree. I can agree that productionwise it is Jays best album but I like the songs too. I can't find a single song on Reasonable Doubt that can hang with Song Cry, Never Change, Heart Of The City, Momma Loves Me, or Take Over. I can listen to the blueprint from front to back to this day for months at a time

also u should pick up that Jay-z unplugged albume, its like a greatest hits live.

i think its one of his best, if not the best.....overall...

i also think you need to be a little older to appreciate it...you can tell by the pics and the lyrics...jay got his cigar, he was already considered a legendary MC, got some serious cash etc. he really exposed the truth about his family issues and his position in the game.....

at least the average songs aren't worsened by guests like bleek, juvenile, lenny kravitz, sean paul etc. (like most of his albums are)

The blueprint is a great album... to me.
Its in the same category as reasonable doubt. Before anybody starts screamin' I'm not comparing them directly, but its the same type of "classic". That album had a larger impact than a lot of people think. I agee with X, I can listen to it front to back without a skip. I don't understand what people want in an album from Jay if you don't like the blueprint. All those people waiting for Reasonable doubt 2 may as well stop listening. Its not that he wdoesn't want do it, its that it can't be. done.

the unplugged album is one of the few live albums I actually enjoy as much as studio albums.

I definately think it was overrated. Actually I think that most of Jay's album were overrated... not that they weren't nice or anything, but my favorite is In My Lifetime Vol. 1. Lucky Me is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Blueprint is my fav Jay album. Its in my top 5 of all time..Not over-rated in my opinion.

Each to his own though..

Its funny because thats one of the Jay-z songs that I can't stand... I understand what he was going for but I just don't like it.

That being said I also Lifetime vol.1 is one of his more uderated albums though

we all kno D'evils is da best jay-z song anyways.. lol

naw i liked blueprint.. but it probably wouldnt go in my top 10 of all time.. def top 20 though.. i think it was hyped up due to takeover.. but it had some classic songs on there..

to each his own..

Y all these people on here raving about J so much. Jay's whole career was desolate until the death of Big and Pac. PERIOD. Pac was killing him and his career at every opportunity as well as Nas and Mobb Deep. Once Biggie died...it was like Jay won by default. and didn't Jay BITE Biggie somewhere in almost every song on the Blueprint? he's still biting Biggie. like Nas said...how many of Big's rhymes gone come out his FAT LIPS!
