I was thinking could is it correct to say that kanye and Dr.Dre are on the same level as far as Producers/rappers.Now before you guys jump all over me, this is what im saying. To my knowledge and rememberence there has never been any to producers that rapper who get so much attention and excitement for there up and coming CDs. Also I dont remember any other producer who have put out cds that have effected so many people. The Chronic came out and the rest was history. College Dropout came out even thought it didnt create a new music sound like g-funk or "gansta rap" as a whole it still is an excellent album. You cant say the same about Swiss Beats,Timbo,Manie and so on. But all the guys I just mentioned (and others) are consitered to be on the same or like timbo better producers then kanye . My question to you all is when you measure all the other producers who have made their own albums as a whole are they on the same level. If not is kanye on the same level as dre when it comes to creating their own albums. your opinons please. PEACE

With opinions like this, it's no wonder they stopped y'all idiots from voting down there. Damn Cookie Monster would be president.

ummm... kanye i think is a better rapper right now, and proudcer but dre gets it over all and wat hes done over the years.

Are you trying to start a sample vs non sample argument.

WTF!!! College Drop out is no where near classic. The Chronic is one of the 20 best and most rememberable hip hop albums ever. For their eras Dre was a better and bigger name in hip hop than Kanye is. Kanye is no where near Dre imo. Even if we say cats who rap and produce I would still put Puffy over Kanye. Andre 3000 is closer to Dre status than Kanye.

I think dre has him on history and longevity. but that wasn't really your question...

Kanye has talent. Dre has more. Lots more. Better still, Dre has a really fine sense of quality control, and he's just way more ****ing skilled. Kanye doesn't get near Dre, at all, not even a little. Don't believe me? Listen to the production on "Hey Mama" listen to how the sample stands out against the rest of the track...

Listen to Dre rapping and you know he's been at it for a long time. He's got a flow that can be switched up, and he can flip a topic over and over and keep it interesting.

Kanye... well... like I said, I like him, but he can barely keep up with meter sometimes, he can't control his inflection, or his breathing, and he sure as **** can't ride a beat. Kanye's interesting, and his production is tight, but he just isn't a great rapper.

Yeah he can flow pretty good when someone else writes a good verse for him.

lol cmon man Dre has had just about good lyracist in the industry writing his lyrics and coaching him.

Hey Mama is an unfinished, unreleased track. He's doing a new version for Late Registration. That old version was never a final version.

I think, rapping wise, Kanye is better, Mainly because Dre doesn't even write his own lyrics, And I don't like listenin to hoes guns etc.

Dre is better production wise. Maybe in 10 years people will arguing about whether some new producer and Kanye on the same level, And people will be like. HELL NOOO, HEEEYYYYYILLL NOOO.

LOL i knew i had to tread lightly on this topic. By no means im i saying that kanye is an equal to dre in production. Nor am i saying that College Dropout is an hip hop classic like the chronic never did i say that. my question was that if you use the the chronic as " the bar " to measure all producers/rapper albums isnt C.D. the only one that can even come close? Thats my question.

The thing about dre's rapping is the same as puff daddy's rapping, which is the same as jessica simpson's singing. Everyone can't rap with a good tone and flow. Some people interpret the lyrics differantly. Someone will give jessica simpson the lyrics and she'll take it to her talent level. The same thing goes for dre. Everyone can't express the lyrics the way he does, thats why he sounds like such a good rapper. Same thing with baby, and diddy. They got the image and the skills to know how THEY sound. Dre's production is way better, but give Kayne some props. He has some top 10 production credits. PS WHAT ABOUT EMINEM BEING A RAPPER/PRODUCER... just had to throw his name in so we could get some more hatin goin on

You have got to be kidding me. When was the last time kanye didn't sample one of his beats...???

You can sample every now and then but too much of it can get people kind of wondering like I am right now he samples to much not to say that he never composed any beats without samples but he does it too much. I would say you have a better chance of putting neptunes in that catagory than Kanye West. Don't get me wrong Kanye West is a good producer or sould I say sampling producer. But he would never match up to Dre's classics. People still play cronic 2001. After the first 4 months when college dropout came out. The CD was no longer the IT CD.

Kanye has a bunch of non-sampled beats. But that doesn't matter. Infact the chronic is almost totally sampled. And 2001 has a lot of interpolations. Don't try and turn this into a sampling argument, this whole thread is pointless and the guy who started it probably just wanted a bunch of arguments to break out

^agreed. But what songs has Kanye composed? I cant think of 1.

I know Kanye didn't sample songs. But most of the song in college dropout were sampled. Dre Cronic 2001 didn't have as much samples as college dropout. did.

The only song I could probably think that wasn't sampled in kanye west cd is either Jesus Walks or Get em high. But I'm not sure those could be sampled too.

Get Em High, Workout Plan, Family Business, Last Call, Common - Be, I cant think of any others but I dont listen to much **** he's produced for other artists, So I don't know... But Hip-Hop was built on using samples so saying somebody is a wack producer because they sample is stupid, unless they're wack... As long as its hot it doesn't matter...
Dre started out sampling exclusively. So you can't say **** about Kanye's sampling, well at least not to argue his talent vs Dre's talent. Kanye will probably start using a lot more live instruments in the future. Threads like this are pointless and nobody learns anything and nobody even CARES, it just get people all angry, They are BOTH great producers, both talented people who are making a lot of many and have made a lot of great tracks.

Dude you're so misinformed. Jesus Walks is sampled. The college dropout has about 15 songs. About 7 of them are non sampled.
And 2001 has a lot of interpolations, and they are the ones we know of...
Why do you care if these songs are sampled?
My favorite beat on 2001 is Xxplosive. My favorite track from the C.D. is either We Don't Care, Spaceship, or Two Words, or Family Business, and three of those are sampled. But they're not just straight up loops. And I don't care because they're hot.
You sound really misinformed so I'm not gonna argue against ya because its pointless. But learn ya history
