as of april of 2008, he still using FL,

they had this Pete Rock Thing at guitar center, he was there with Just Blaze and some other dudes,

he specifically said he uses FL Studio, Pro Tools, Records and a Turntable...lol...

but the crazy part, is that he said he uses "Fruity Loops 4" lol..
everyone in the croud was like "whaatttttt" lol....so technically, he dosnt use FL Studio, He uses FRUITY LOOPS lol.......

That's interesting. I really wanted to go to that thing. I was in Ohio at the time and they don't ever have anything close to there and Columbus is a big city. Now I'm close to Chicago but everything Chi had is self made. There isn't even a Sam Ash there. Pete Rock and those guys need to...or somebody needs to pay them to get around more.
also, for bass, im guessing he filters out a bass note from the sample, and maps it out across the keyboard...but thats just my guess...
See when I had the MPC I was creative like that, now with Reason, I have so much availability and I forget to try simple ish like that.

I know this is a random question, but what is "tracking out" a beat?

its basically seperating each part of the beat on its own audio file, for example, the kick has its own track, so does the snare, and so on...

naa, 9th has a lot of different sources im sure.
Not only can you sample your bass lines a few different ways
also ive heard before he uses boo bass.

but to be honest with you, in the hip hop back, hip hop bass 1 is fine if used correctly

what he uses is his brain, use yours,,,stop trying to sound like 9th wonder and start trying to sound like mars,,,when ur original thats when u get respect

but thats like saying, "quit trying to fly that 757 like everyone lese does, and find your own way to do it, be original" maybe you just dont have a good answer for this question from 2005.

what crawled up your va jay jay and died?

not really, u learn the fundamentals first then you come up with your own style to streamline the process,,,however that 757 is a bad example, i mean how many other ways can you fly a plane,,, not too many... how many ways is there to make music,,,,if i start rapping like you,,,then people will say its unoriginal, biting as it were, but i have my own unique sound and style,,,which may be hard to do,,, at least people will say, at least he doesnt sound like so and so... i mean how many people sound like ODB, but we know an ODB track when we hear one, just like we know a 9th wonder track when we hear one

We use elements from music we love and apply that to our own beats...I mean what makes a 9th bassline is not the sound so much as the succession of notes.

hahaha that makes me think of the chick from step brothers
"i just wanna rool u up into a little ball and stick u up my vagina"

but seriusly i think he just filters out the sample...all it takes is some good eq and a god skill...hip hop bass 1 isnt bad tho...nd boo bass has potenial if tweaked

you filter any bass really to get a smoother sound...I do it all the time...low end doesn't work for everything

I use low end a lot or I play the bass with a bass.

Can anyone help me, I'm trying to do some basics for a lot of songs I have, but... well I have no much experience at FL... I've been working with it.. but still I don't get anything.

Please give me a hand.
