i've read the manuals, but i'm not getting any sound? i connected my 1/4 cable from my mixer (level 1) into my mpc (mix out 1), is this right??

Does your mixer have anything marked "Input" ...?

ALSO: It might be helpful if you mentioned the brand/model of mixer.

Watch the FP SHOW episode ESPECIALLY made to explain this purpose!

of course there are MANY ways to connect your MPC... the episode shows the simplest, most straightforward way to "track" to your DAW

the FP SHOW section is linked on the front page

good luck

yeah i watched that, and i think im good with the mixer, but i'm not sure where to plug the cable into my mpc, i've tried the mix outs but i'm not getting any sound..is there something i need to do on my mpc in order to do this??

dag, Mano jumped in to help you out, and your still having trouble? if you not getting sound, try some head phones, this eliminates the mixer all together. start there, are you getting sound out the box itself? if no, start troubleshooting there. it's a sampler, realize you have to put something into it to get something out of it. if yes, move on to the mixer. somehow, i get the feeling that your problem lies in the mpc somewhere. and if you read the manuals, how could you not be sure where to plug the cable into your mpc? it only has X amount of jacks on the back. i'm bout to tell you how to hook up every single peice of electronics ever made. it's simple, you go 'OUT' from one component, 'IN' to the next component. that applies to every peice of electronics ever made. mpc's, vcr's, walkman's, toasters, blenders, ok ok ok, i'm gettin out of hand. but thats basically it. re-read the manual if your still having trouble with cables, normally, they put pretty pictures (called a diagram) in there to make this part of the set up easy. thats actually the easiest part. output to input. cake.

no nothing wrong with the mpc, i use it all the time. and i did wat they told me in the manuals, line 1 in from my mixer to the mix out 1 on my mpc. my headphones are plugged into the headphone jack of my mixer. should i be hearing sound from anywhere i am in the mpc? or do i need to go into a certain mode?

do you have sounds loaded into the mpc?

U say the mpc is fine and you have headphones plugged into the mixer. I'm tryin to help you troubleshoot and narrow down the problem. Plug the headphones into the mpc, do you get sound in the headphones, coming from the mpc? Yes or no? We're just dealin with the mpc for now. We're not onto the mixer yet. Answer that and we'll move fwd. I hate to skip ahead, but no use waiting, do you have output 2 going from the mpc into line 2 of the mixer? It could be that what ever your playin is set to output 2 on the mpc, and if you only have output 1 connected, your not going to hear the stuff thats coming out of output 2.

And your not going out from line 1 of the mixer into the mix out of the mpc. Start at the source and follow the signal flow. Your going OUT of the mpc, and IN to line 1 of the mixer. (OUT from 1 component, IN to the next. OUTput to INput, like a girl and a boy, notice how some cables are referred to as male or female, all this stuff goes hand in hand) Proper terminology goes along way in conveying your problems and communicating with others. Basically you were sayin it backwards, which can be confusin to some when reading your posts. Not being a d*ck, just tryin to help you learn, after all, thats what we're here for, right?

1. Yes, i'm getting sound when i plug my headphones into the mpc.

2. I have assignable mix out 1 from the mpc going into the line in 1 on my mixer.

I appreciate the help, i'll try to use proper terminology

I'm afraid to ask, but I have to ...

What brand/model of speakers are hooked up to your mixer, and how doe you have them connected?

i don't have any monitors at the moment, which is why i'm using headphones

So what purpose is the mixer serving? Just audio interface? Make sure everything is routed properly in the mixer, ie the chan1 signal is actually being sent to the headphone/monitor section. Is there some editor software that goes with that? Is it setup and routed properly, to send the signal to the headphone monitor section? This sounds like a really simple set up, can't understand why your havin so much trouble, either way, i'm sure its a simple fix.

Are the L.E.D.s on the mixer at least lighting up in response to the input from the MPC?

The giant lack of information that should have been provided up front is making this extremely difficult to nail down.

well it came with cubase LE, which i haven't gotten working yet, i'm having issues with it crashing on start-up, i made a topic in the cubase forum to see if i can get help. right now, since it's a usb mixer, i want to use it to record cubase with mpc as my sequencer. i also want to eq my drums and do my rough mixes. in the manual it says i should just be able to plug in my headphones to the headphone jack and thats it, but im not even getting a signal (l.e.d lights not flashing) and thats with my line in 1 gain knob halfway, my channel 1 volume knob halfway and my main mix knob halfway
