Yeah I'd like to know too! You can hear in the end of the track the singer is saying something like "lord I feel like I'm dying" or something

Whipping Post by the Allman Brothers

(Great song!)

It is "Whipping post" but I don't think its the allman brothers version. The "Good lord I feel like I'm dying" isn't screamed in the allman brothers song.

Nvm it's Genya Ravan-Whipping Post

I found on Wiki that it's sampled from "Whipping Post" by Genya Ravan and "Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin. Just Blaze samples piece by piece and brings them all together that's why two songs.

I saw that too, but I can't really instantly hear what is taken from the joplin song though.

Yeah maybe the info on Wiki is not true it would not be anything new.^^ Would be nice if someone who knows the original songs could clarify that, because I don't have the songs so I don't konw them, but I'll look for them, maybe I can get em.

That wiki entry is probably right. Remember how finely just blaze can chop. When I hear the sample for the "No More Fun And Games" sample for the Game's album, I couldn't hear any resemblance.

Yes it is the same thing with the song Kingdom Come on Jay-Z's new album. He only took one-shots beside the vocal samples, he sampled Superfreak by Rick James.
It's crazy that he samples only by ear, you know when you have the song loaded up in an audio editor on your pc then you can see the wave and every single hit on the display, but how you do it only by ear? Damn!

I have both of the songs. I can clearly hear the Genya Ravan song in there. I didn't say the wiki was uncorrect though; I know JB is a great chopper.

And rocsta, everybody can hear that it's the Super Freak song, that was probably part of the plan :D How do you know that he chops by ear?

Because most MPC'ers do, plus he did it on the smack DVD

The only chop beside the vocal where you can clearly here that it is a part of Superfreak is the bassline this: da, dada dap. Know what I mean.;) I mean this bassline part is what makes Superfreak so popular everyone can hum it.

Lol, don't you know that MPC's have waveform editing? I have and MPC, and I mostly chop by ear too, it's not difficult, but I also like having the waveform just as reference, and I'm sure that JB also doesn't limit himself to only chop by ear when he has the waveform editing.

rocsta: well then you should listen to more music besides hip hop. Everybody that had heard Super Freak from before could hear that the beat sampled Super Freak, you know in the verse when the tiny synth chop gets looped perfectly so it sounds like it's one sustaining note? You should have heard that in Super Freak. I am not saying that he didn't chop it good, because I'm a big JB fan and I got blown away when I heard that beat, he is an amazing chopper. But the beat screams out Super Freak, and that was probably intended too (taking a known song and make it something completely different, but still keep it recognizable)...

I wouldn't say that's a loop, he took several one-shots from Super Freak and brought them together, those one-shots fill up the whole background in that beat. Like in this FL6 remake - if you have FL.

EDIT: He played them perfectly and very fast that it sounds like a loop.

Lol I never said it was a loop. I said he looped the chops so it sounds like one long note. Exactly the same that happens in sound modules where the sustain part (middle part) of the instrument sound is looped for as long as you hold the key.

What's funny is that looking at the waveforms whilechopping actually HOLDS YOU BACK. You shouldn't look at the waveorm. Just close ur eyes and do it by ear.

I promise it's easier,

Lando

Why is that easier? I agree that chopping only by waveform sucks... That's why I don't like Recycle that much (yet). But why shouldn't I utilize both methods at the same time?

wow some of the **** i read on these post cracks me up. looking at waveforms holds you back! close your eyes and sample by ear! get the **** outta here. the only thing holding you back is...yourself. by the way Just Blaze dosen't use a MPC anymore.
