Would you consider "Rewind" one of the best stories told in Hip Hop or possibly an instant classic track??
 
Yup, but "I gave you power" from It Was Written was better IMO.
 
I prefer One Mic, that is probs my second or third fav hip hop tune ever.

I'd call it classic! I love the way Nas came on that track...from every angle.
 
It was pushing the bar for hip hop, but I would like to see more tracks done like that, cause I think in terms of flow and style and all it could be done differently. Wish more rappers had half a brain to attempt something more like that(course Nas has more than half a brain he has spurts of genius, overall he's a smart dude)
 
yeah no doubt, we need more inovaters....if i spelled that right...
 
Classic of course. On the same level as Biggie and Slick Rick.

My favorite "story" of Nas's however is One Love.

that **** is too ill!! he even had the dialog in reverse!

Back to the topic: REWIND

Oh how I love this record. Every time I hear some one give a pity prop to B.I.G. for being the G.O.A.T. I think of this song because although B.I.G. had storytellin' ability he could NEVER phuck wit' this (or "Undying Love" and "I Gave You Power").

The one mistake in the song is "bobbed her head and spit a nutt back in my dikk"....I always thought it should be spit a nutt back in my dikk, then the bobbin', then started suckin' wit' no hands a whole lotta spit, etc.
 
Of course its a classic who the f*ck else has rhymed a story backwards!

like "theonlybman" said nas was pushing the bar!

Its just a pitty that other rappers dont always try & push the bar!

I love that beat. Its funky and has so much soul at the same time. That bass. Crazy. Its a zone out beat.

And the lyrics. That's some real ish.
