Hi!
I read recently about the Pioneer CMX 5000 Dual CD player. Can someone tell me how good/bad it actually is...first hand info is always the best.

How does it rate vs the Denon 2000f or 1800f players?

Appreciate it!

Im not sure if u can compare the cmx 5000 with the denon 2000 or 1800's. The cmx has a lot more features and functions. Id really suggest u go down to a store and check them all out. You can get 2 denon 1800's for the price of one cmx 5000 !!!

Right on...

Yes, the Automicz on the CMX is bull... I've been on a CMX for some time now (Trickmaster, do u remember my Tascam of old? Not back from the shop yet... unfortunatelly!) and if ever I put it for use five times is too much!

I must conefss though that I'm actually getting quite used to the "stealth", its fast and precise as my old CDJ 100S'. I just regret that it hasn't half the features of the TAscam, which by the way is also cheaper than the CMX too.

Answering the question of our new friend here, the CMX rates high w/ me for these features:
-Slot-in system is fast, fast, fast, and clean to load/unload of discs. Has to be the best attribute of Pio CMX and CDJ 100S!
-Pioneer precision = easy and accurate operation.
-Reads ALL types cds w/out exception - I mean it!
-Is compact, light and beautiful. Sounds excelent too.
-Loops are easy and accurate to boot!
-+/- 6, 10 or 16% are great for setting pitch accuracy.

Drawbacks (IMO):
-EXPENSIVE!!!
-Automix is a nonsense gadget (for real djs)that adds to cost, of course.
-Too compact (read "cramped") for my taste w/ small pitch rules, buttons, etc. Denons suffer this design problems too, sometimes worse 'cause at least Pio came up w/ a nice solution to the jog dial issue (IMO the Tascam wins hands-down the layout contest!!!)

Hope it helps.

ALex TC in the mix! Best regards to all.

Alex i hope ur 302 comes back soon !then u can get crackin on the tricks i posted ! :)
Lets see what our new friend has to say about what we said

Hey thank you guys so much for the info!

I have been confused about this issue for so long and have been told different things all the time.

Trickmaster, I read some of the stuff you wrote about the CMX -5K and the Tascam on some of the othe other thread also. Seems like the Tascam is definately the favorite going around.

The automix function never appealed to me anyway, but some of the other features on the pioneer such as its precision, loading time and accuracy were strong points. also it is priced high so i wondered if there was something else special in it.

I dont think that performing in a club/rave is my destination. This is more as a personal thing but that doesnt mean that I dont take mixing seriously. I have had a pair of Numark tt's for a while, want to get a cd player now because i am mostly into Goa trance, and have been able to get more tracks on cd than vinyl where i live.

so as a final question : is Tascam the one? :-)

thanks once again!

Hey what a conincidence ! I spin Goa too ! Well ive never had a problem with spinin goa on the tascam. It works for me ! Im guessin it would work for you too ! After working with the 302 ive begun to experiment a lot more. Tonnes of stuff u can do with the 302. Read the trick list ive compiled in this forum for a little taste of what u can do with it ! You can really let fly some serious sets once u get to know the 302 properly !
Let me know if u need any specific info.

The Tascam is just that little bit slower to load/read the cd but we're talking about a few secs. dif. (CMX=3 secs. / Denon=5/6 secs. and TAscam=10/12 secs. - I timed all of them really!), so unless u're mixing by the minute it's just fine, any dj can live w/ that in the set! ANd the rest of feats, work so damn fine it's scary!
