Recommendations of some bands that mix industrial with experimental metal(Tool, NIN)

Hey guys,
Im new to the site but i love coming here to see what u guyz have to say about the world of rock. But anyway i was wondering if anyone could recommend some bands that mix Tool (my favorite band by far) with NIN's more moody experimental music( The Great Below, And All That Could Have Been etc...) mixed with some of Deftones more soft atmospheric music ( Change, Passenger, RX Queen etc...) I guess u could call it mostly industrial or experimental artistic metal. Ive just always liked that type of music but dont know where to go from here. Any help would be great.

Thanks
MIke

welcome to FP

anyway u may have heard of these and i hope these are along the lines of stuff you like, going by the stuff you listed you might like these Fear Factory, Stabbin Westward, Filter, Rammestein, Meat Beat Manifesto, just some peeps that came to mind the only ones i can think of that go along that industrial type sound that you didnt already mention

Peace.

Thanks for the recommendations man.. yeah im a pretty big fan of stabbing westward and filter and such.. ill definitely check out the others. if anyone has any more suggestions that would be great. does anyone know what that genre of music is called.. i hear several refrences to experimetal metal or thought provoking metal... but dunno if there is a definite category for that type of music..

peace

industrial rock is what most people call it i think. oh yeah i dont know if i spelled rammestein right it might be rammstein anyway youll figure it out im sure. theyre a german band.

static x

Rammestein are a scary band. A lot of people who listen to electronica music like them. I here how experimental they are. You might like static x in case you havent heard of them (i'm sure you have). Wayne Static did a remix of "closer".........I believe he just added backing vocals. I havent heard it, though....

The few changes he made were very subtle and were pointed out by a friend of mine.

You might want to check out Kidney Thieves, Orgy, Ministry, Ween, Skrew, Sister Machine Gun, Front Line Assembly, Front 242, Bile, The Damage Manual, Slick Idiot, Killing Joke, My Life With Thrill Kill Kult, Sheep on Drugs, and especially Zeromancer. Whew..... I hope that helps...

try razed in black - damaged and collide - chasing the ghost, two of my absolute favorites.

Yes, Collide's Chasing the Ghost is a lovely album. I highly recommend it.

Hey Chaka, I accidently happened across this site, while searching info on the NIN - closer remix by StaticX, a song if haven't heard yet, should definetly check out.
Anyway I saw a question you posted in October I believe, regarding more bands in the vein of Tool, NIN, etc. I had to then join this site to give you my opinions.
I myself love all the bands you mentioned as well as the other recommendations by other members, so here's my other fave bands, with a fave song of theirs mentiond. Cheers.
FUNKER VOGT - thanks for nothing, 4th dimension
KMFDM - megalomaniac, light
THE UNION UNDERGROUND - trip with jesus, turn me on Mr. Deadman'
COVENANT - deadstars
LEATHERSTRIP - evil speaks
WUMPSCUT - down where we belong, slave to evil
ZEROMANCER - clone your lover
DOPE - thanks for nothing, slipping away
16VOLT - guilty, down
EVILS TOY- old race
GIRLS UNDER GLASS - virtual world, heat in my heart
INFORMATIK - a matter of time, autonomous
KORN - full of sorrow, alone I break
STATIC X - cold, ostego undead
MACHINES OF LOVING GRACE - golgotha
SNOG - the human germ
I could list tons more, but that's it for now.
Some of these bands and or songs, might not exactly fit your classification of what you were looking for, but I still think they should be part of everyone's library if musically open minded.

I've owned all of korns albums up to "issues". Are those from the new cds that came out after "issues"? Those static x songs must be off "machine" because there not from "wisconsin death trip".

As for the "closer" version by NIN, its with Wayne Static not static x.

Check out...

- Razed in Black (a personal favorite of mine)
- Celldweller
- Slick Idiot (ex singer & guitarist from KMFDM)
- Skold (if you can find it...it was Tim Skold from KMFDM and now Marilyn Manson's solo album)
- Shotgun Messiah (Skold's first band...but just check out their last album: Violent New Breed...everyhting before it was basically glam metal)
- Skinny Puppy
- Ministry (old but still good)
- and my band System Slave is pretty much the kind of stuff you were talking about as well...we're in the process of recording a demo..so keep tabs on our site www.systemslave.net for updates..
