Should Vocals be louder then the beat?

I'm not a professional.. But here's whut I think... I think dat vocals should be loud to be heard. It all depends on da mix. If your vocals fit and sounds good on da beat.. Das a good thing! I don't see any reason for makin' da vocals a bit louder dan da beat. I mean, it won't sound good and professional. U should try and make da vocals sit on da beat...
