You gotta get known...

Yo, if you afraid to post on the web, why not record your voice and specify your name and that your stuff is copyrighted... I've known a few peeps that did that, and it's hard to actually copy the file, whether RM or not, if your voice is on it... feel me? I did that to my beats that I allow peeps to hear... on the background of my beats is "This song created and recorded by German Lopez aka Genycis. This track is legally copywritten 2003, All rights reserved"... and just loop it after itself on your tracks.. that'll protect it. Its' like Devize said though, if you don't showcase some of your beats, the only place you gonna be known is around the way... feel me? I'm workin' with my brother and his boyz out in NYC through demo CD's at the moment, so, even if they make some loot with the beats I DID provide them, it's not like my brother or his boyz are gonna make the same tight beats I'm letting them use. You gotta take a couple risks, you gonna lose here and there, but in the end, if you made it to tha top, then it's their loss for rippin' off one track, while your name's hittin' headlinez with mad tracks. They can rape a track, but not your creativity. Feel me? I agree with Devize.. take a risk. I'm gonna try to get some of my beatz posted to MP3.com. Do that though.. just a suggestion. Holla.

Genycis (tha NYC is in tha name!)

Wassup y'all....I just stumbled upon this site, and read this thread....I specifically registered to reply to this post.....

I mix Indian music, and the song you mentioned is made from the "Bhangra" genre of Indian music.... This genre is not only produced in India but also in UK , America and Canada on a massive scale....I can guarantee that the Indian artiste lifted this sample off "Ugly"....I know this because in the Bhangra genre, especially the songs produced in UK, Canada and US they all lift hip-hop samples, add a few more tracks and new vocals and then release it....I can give a whole list of this if anyone is interested....songs that have been lifted include:
The Next Episode - Dr. Dre
Get Your Freak On- Missy Elliot
Give it 2 Me- Jay-Z
Big Pimpin- Jay-Z
Country Grammar- Nelly
Did You Ever Think- R. Kelly
Doin It- LL Cool J
Fire it Up- Busta Rhymes (The song that used this Sample was produced by Panjabi MC in the UK, and in the last few weeks has been on the UK singles charts....it is the only sample that has been cleared to be used from all the Bhangra tracks)

The Indian artistes don't find it neccesary to clear these samples because they don't sell much and they only sell in the Indian communities around the World, therefore most hip-hop producers do not even know that there sample is being used....

Also samples from UK Garage are always used......

well that guitar-like sample thats all over hat ugly song actually comes from the third disk of a set called deepest india. i dont remember the exact name of the sample but the guitar line is pretty exact to what is used, also included are backround beats and atmospherics. all that was added on to the sample that appears here is a synth, drums and a few hums here and there. dont get mad!!!! you can use sample disks...who cares if you steal samples or not. hip hop was meant to piss off artists who hate being sampled. and timbo does it great cus whatever he samples might sound like the original but really doesnt. anyone remember that song on the first timbo and magoo disk that is really that theme from that genie show from the 50's or sixties.

It was from tim's bio, it was 'wit yo bad self' ft Mad Skillz, sampled i dream of jeannie.... although will smith/ jazzy jeff had already done it...

What's going on, it's ya boy George Kush. Stupid folks on this site banned me a couple of weeks ago for no good reason, so now I'm making my case son.

Why yall ban me for? Huh???
