i use the su700 for producing hip hop, i like it, all tho it is setup different than say an mpc. its easy and fun to use, plus there are effects built in! you can also use it as a midicontroller. if the price is around $350 including scsi and/or the multi outs take it, if not they usually go for about $300 or less...

they wont let me have more than 3 audio files on there cause im not a full member...just some short snippets. the first one was not done on the su700 so please disreguard it.
sequencer sucks, specially midi-wise.
the effect are really nice. scsi is slow.
try it out somewhere, for the sequencer... i thought ir really sucked.
if ya like the effects and so on, get rs7000. basically that's su700+rm1x.
Yo is there a way to preview your sample before you load it, cuz I loaded a snare floppy disk full of snares and I dont know which is which, and in order for me to find out I gotta load one (which takes days...) and if i dont like it I gotta REload another one, and so on. Is tehre a way I can preview before I acutally LOAD it into a pad?
i think there might be via scsi but i dont have the scsi. the sequencer is different than an mpc. if you want to do patterns then you make them on the composed loop pads and the free pads can be used for things like oneshot samples. you can adjust the amount of bars in the composed loop pads. you can make this thing swing and get some very nice drums out of it. in no way is this machine an mpc its very different, but still a great machine...the way i use this machine is i keep master copies of all my samples on the pc and sample them onto the su700 for further tweaking and sequencing.
Yo man do u think you could tell me (or tell me where on manual) how to compose a loop. Cuz from all i know, the only way im gettin loops (well not even) is recording my pad hits in real time... and my timing is horrible, my hi hats are off beat just slighty.. and ahhhhhhh i cant work this mother ****er. Im used to easy ass visible step sequencing on FL Studio. I can sample **** form records and loop and play em perfectly on my su700 I just dont know how to make drum loops and differnt patterns. Thanks - Peace
turn on quantize and set it to 16th note ( i always use 16th or 16th3), and you will be using the composed loop pads (atleast one) the default loop length for them is 1 bar or 4 beats. to make the loop longer hit track set->setup ->loop length. each one of the loop pads can be a different length btw. i was also sloppy for a while programming drums on this thing but after a few times you get used to it and it becomes 2nd nature almost. i also reccommend downloading a copy of the manual and printing it out if yours didnt come with one as its much easier to stick it in a 3 ring binder and flip thru it than it is to read the pdf.
Also had another question. I'll sample a bar or two from a record that will be at a slow tempo (lets say 75bpm) but the sampler will record it at like 140, thinking its that fast. How do I fix this problem, cuz I want to keep my beats around 90bpm and I usually sample slower stuff and pitch and speed it up a bit, but the su700 is wrongly pre determining the tempo. Is there a way to change this.
